Just got done riding there rode every trail but 9. Every thing is in good shape. With the lack of rain lately the creeks are dry.

On the East side of 169 there is fresh bark laid down on the trails which sucks all your momentum, but the good riding's on the West side of 169 anyways.

Hi everyone!! Just got back from seven mile. Trails were great, the creeks had some water in them, not a lot. I found some of the single track on loop 8.:crazy2: You have to hike up them, but it was a blast to fly down root infested trails.:jumpy: I never rode the east side of 169, so I can't tell you much about that. Anyways get out there and I'll sea you on the trails!!

Was out there Sat. The weather was so awesome I ended up spending 5 hours out there. The trails were in great shape.

Lots of leaves down so some of the corners are a little slick. Good news is they have been driving a tractor up and down trail 9 so the gravel is a lot more packed down on the climb and its all rideable now.

the majority of the trails are south facing so there is a good chance that it coud be clear by this weekend. its mostly double pack though, and i havent been out all winter so i honestly have no idea what the conditions are like.

Thinking about heading down today. Anyone going to be out there to show a brother around? Never ridden this area before. Thanks.

Looks like it's kind of quiet in the Mankato area...

Anyways - I'm new to this crazy sport, very new. Just got my bike and I've been out to 7 mile only 3 times. Thought I'd say hi and warn you all that you have a slow girl out on your trails now. If you hear a scream, it's probably just me having another awesome crash. (I've learned, the hard way, to keep off the front brake while going down a hill)

hey danielle

welcome to MORC, you'll love it here and good call on a fun sport. 7 mile is a lot of fun, but there are also some other great intro trails if you know where to look, and are down for a mixed road off road ride. PM me, or 9Guy9, or RaleighX and we can show you around sometime.

i rode the "DH" off of 10 last night. it brought back all sorts of happy memories of me going over my handle bars last fall. especially cause the banshee just soaks it all up.

I just missed you. I went out there around 2:00. It was pretty loose out there...I was sliding all over the place. Walked the bike up 11 just because I'd never been up there...pretty much a waste of time even though the ride back down was fast.

yea i left early, i only rode for about 45min, cause i crashed hard off the singletrack on 10. broke my helmet, and bent my front rim.

fortuneatly cause i work in a bike shop i was able to get it good enough to ride. but its only going to get worse from here on out.

daniele let me know if you want to go next week.

Is this trail more than wood chips? They kept mutliply when I used to ride it.

Spent alot of college days riding 7-mile which has so much potential, but land managers would have none of it.

yes it also has a lot of gravel:D all the wood chips are on the river side of the highway now. The good trails are on the west side of 169. There is a good bit of trail, unfortunately the main method of maintaining the trails is to cover then in gravel once or twice a year. With the high number of users though they get packed down fairly quickly, and there is some nice single track that is good old fashioned dirt. The one upside to the gravel trails is they can be ridden regardless of the weather.

There are wood chips on the trails on the other side of 169 (by the river), but I don't recall riding over anything but dirt and gravel on the real side. There isn't even that much gravel, actually.

Those wood chips take make for a hell of a ride when you're out of shape. Ugh..sinkage!

it could be so much faster there if it wasn't for the gravel...

this is so true, however if the st.peter project ever goes thorough, we wont have to worry about the gravel. plus there is always grandmas trail

Just got back from 7 mile, trails are firm and fast. Pretty busy out there today too.

Rode all the trails on the west side of the highway tonight. Every thing is in great shape. The gravel is getting pretty well packed down, making all the climbs rideable (except the ravine on trail #9). The foliage has fully grown in around the trails making them a little narrower. The park was busy like you would expect on a nice Sat summer afternoon, however I only saw 2 other couples on the trails.

I rode with my newest toy tonight a Garmin Edge. After riding a typical lap with out repeating any loops I rode 9.13 miles, rode for 1 hour 10 min, and climbed 1010 feet.:crazybanana:

here is the deal because 7 mile is gravel double track, it becomes stupid fast after a heavy rain. so when the metro area trails are shut down cause of the rain, come on down to 7 mile.

Went for a night ride tonight. Trails are in good shape. Use has packed or cleared most of the leaves.

Fresh gravel down on #9:incazzato:
