I installed new juicy seven brakes, last night. Went for ride today and noticed a faint but annoying ringing from the front end. Inspected and found the source (pictured below).

Anyone else have this problem? Does it go away? Is there a way to fix it? Do I need to send them back?

Thanks!

Checked with the source of 99.125% of my bike knowledge, Gregg Stenzel (iceskier), and apparently this is a well known issue with the Juicy brakes. It may go away with use. If not, there are potential solutions that are too time consuming for me.

If it doesn't go away, I guess I'll have to upgrade... oh well.

Little known fact that if you call sram yourself it is possible they can send you something to fix this, I am not saying what, I am just saying it is worth a shot. Someone should be able to get you a number.

If it is a true ringing -
that means vibration.
Resonance at an audible frequency.

cheap and easy fixe is ...tape....try a piece of duct tape as a vibration dampener. As long as it does not interfere with operation...this may work while waiting for the reply from brain tickled engineers, tech persons or sales guy.

Are you sure your rotor isn't rubbing on your pads? I was getting a ringing noise for a while, usually while climbing and I found that my rotor was rubbing slightly on the pads. I re-adjusted the calipers and the ringing is gone.

Yep. Pretty sure. I can make it ring with wheel off, by giving it a little tap. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's actually just a clip that sits in there.. but it's tough to get out without separating the caliper halves. You can pry it out with a screwdriver but you'll end up scratching the paint on the caliper. Sounds like it needs to be bent open a bit more so it doesn't wiggle around.

<edit> Been a while since I've futzed with one of those. Looked up the tech manual. It's a Spring Pad clip. You can pop it off if you take a needle nose pliers, grab one side and gently pull it out. I'd recommend carefully bending the clip open a little wider and then just pop it back in. here's a link to the tech manual, the caliper overhaul starts on page 21:

It's for '06, but the 2 piece juicy 7 calipers are all the same.
