THUMP!

I know there is an old thread or two out there but I wanted to hear some current opinions.
I currently have a creaky seatpost and saddle. I have tried lube(I feel dirty just saying that) to no avail.
I am looking for recommendations on current good values(cheap) on seats and seatposts.

I have a Sette Amp from from pricepoint.com and think it is more comfortable than the Selle Italia on my FS that has since been replaced. Hard to beat the price too. I have it mounted on a Race Face Evolve XC seatpost that I really like too. Again a good price. You're lookin at $50 to $55 for both including shipping.

+1 on any of the WTB seats, they are awesome. I've never been sore once since switching to my Speed V.

WTB has a Saddle Demo program (http://wtb.com/usa/test-ride-kit) through a lot of LBS's. At least three of my local shops do it. I think it's worth checking around and trying a few out, because I tried the Devo, Rocket and Shadow and hated every one of them. I hated them so much I didn't bother to even go back and try the Silverado. And it's not that I'm hugely picky about saddles, it's just that they weren't at all comfortable.
The Bontrager Race Lux that came on my Fisher is very nice, though I just tore it up in a crash. I was thinking about replacing it with a Bontrager InForm RL. Three years ago I bought a Specialized Body Geometry Telluride saddle for my hardtail that's still very nice. My 'cross bike came with a Specialized Body Geometry Rival SL saddle that I like a lot too. If you're looking for something inexpensive, the Specialized Rival is available in the "regular' version for $63.
I would recommend trying to find an LBS doing the WTB Test Ride thing, hitting up a Specialized dealer for a BG saddle or look at the Bontrager saddles for their Unconditional Comfort Guarantee (http://www.bontrager.com/support/unconditional_comfort_guarantee/en). My butt has repeatedly told me that Bontrager and Specialized saddles are the only ones it likes.

Prepare to have much less foam padding on the InForm.

I'm pretty okay with that. I'm much less sensitive to the amount of padding on a saddle and more sensitive to the shape. For example, when I was ride-testing the WTB Devo, I was fine with its stiffness and relatively small amount of padding. What I didn't like is that I couldn't find a comfortable spot to sit, even with cycling shorts on. There were two little bumps that I think my sit bones were supposed to be on but they didn't fit my sit bones at all. It didn't matter where I tried to sit or how I had the saddle positioned fore/aft. It just didn't fit. The WTB Rocket V, for example, had a lot more padding but I still couldn't find a comfortable place to sit on the saddle. Going even further, that Specialized Telluride saddle is actually too smooshy these days. It never gets uncomfortable, but I find myself wishing for a firmer seat.
Of course, I may find the InForm saddle is no more comfortable than the WTB's, and I can safely grab another Race Lux or Specialized Rival and be just fine.

Go to Eric's to get your seat bones measured. I got the Speclized Rival. I like it.

Great value on solid seatpost = Salsa Shaft
Saddle recommendation? Please provide photo of taint and description of leatheryness. Seriously, there is probably nothing more rider-specific than saddle selection.
I'm Soupboy and I support the WTB Ti Lazer V Stealth (all 3 I pwn).
