I may stop by COL/OC after the group ride at Buck Hill. Or perhaps bring the lights for some night riding, unless Mr Gopherhockey says I have to wait until September to bask in the glory of darkness and dirt.

Nope, as long as you get out of the trail and lot by 10pm you are golden.
Hmmm.. do you think there is enough darkness to get in one lap with lights? If so I might be willing to join you....

There might be semi-fast group within the group leaving promptly at (edit: now 6:15pm) if anyone is interested. I will be ride contact for this group. We plan on doing 2 laps with little or no stopping. Lap times probably around 50 minutes. PM me if interested.

Will there be a semi-fast group next week?
My wife and kids will be out of town and next week will probably be my only guilt-free group ride opportunity of the year.

If you remember to PM me, that's great but don't worry about it.
For a semi-fast group ride, I'll make sure I find you.

There might be semi-fast group within the group leaving promptly at (edit: now 6:15pm) if anyone is interested. I will be ride contact for this group. We plan on doing 2 laps with little or no stopping. Lap times probably around 50 minutes. PM me if interested.
Rats! I am going to miss this one.
OK... So... it's Salsa Night... sombreros, beer ponchos (ocary/bikerkitty;)), chips, modelo, etc... all welcome. Bring some chips & salsa (or guacamole) for the COL.
Oh Dos Equis (http://staythirstymyfriends.com/), we will meet again. Does this mean Scott can wear his luchador mask?

1) I don't have any beer ponchos. You (and BK) snagged both of them. :nono:
2) I might stop by after Buck Hill. Or maybe not.

I'll trade you a Fat Cat (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/fat-cat-lager/9432/) for a Pennsylvania Style Light, I saw this orange box at the liquor store this weekend and couldn't resist trying it!!
Aight, looks like i'm ready to go. I have left over beer from the weekend and a folding chair, all i need to know now is where do you guys meet before the ride? Is it pretty obvious when you roll into the park? I managed to drag a friend with just in case there are no other beginners there...two new newbs ready for abuse....hahahahaha!!! Are there still a lot of people meeting up at 6:30 or is everyone going at 6 for the faster crew?

Geoffrey,
We all just sort of hang in the lot before the ride. Usually, since the group is so big there will be a few groups that just end up rolling out between 6:00 and 6:30ish. You can look for me (girl from REI). I'll be wearing a lavendar bike jersey with a rootbeer brown salsa ala carte.

Geoffrey,
Oh yeah Fat Cat is a staple cheap beer. Though I think I'll be getting the better end of the deal price wise. 12 packs of Fat Cat run me 5.99 vs. 30 packs of Pennsylvania Style for 10.99 (up a buck from last week egad!) :)
As for where to meet up people usually just mill about waiting for someone to take command of the ride. Just park in the lot and come find my car (see below). I'll help point out some other riders who will be going on the ride.
edit: Katy is a lot better looking and interesting than me so you might want to go that route. :p

I hear you. I did some leg work on Wednesday - squats and deadlifts - and when I tried to ride today, it was pathetic. I'm thinking of going back to no leg work during riding season.

Great first time out, I’ve never been mountain biking before and wanted to check out the scene. The group is very hospitable. I would definitely recommend going if you plan on buying a mountain bike. I’ll have to dust off my dinosaur of a mountain bike as my crosscheck with drop bars wasn’t the greatest experience! I managed to biff it letting someone pass me…lol
<o></o>
Well I hope all who tried a Fat Cat enjoyed it. If and when I come again I’ll bring some other random beer (requirement < $0.50 a can right…hahahaha).

Just a quick reminder that some of the Thursday night ride regulars will be turning to day/night rides soon... so get those lights in order! We typically run day/night laps for a month or so, then go all out night pretty much through the winter.
We may post these up separately from the larger group that is forming for those interested, as we typically run right up to the 10pm timeline and so any possible post ride is usually held outside the parking lot.
