Newbie Looking For a New Bike

Alright I am a newbie to the forum along with a newbie to the sport. I currently have a trek 4300 and I ride mostly single track plus I commute one mile to work. I have been looking at fisher bikes but I really don't know what I am looking for. I want something under 1500 bucks so probably a hard tail but other then that I am lost any help would be appreciated. IE. recomended brands, components, accesories, etc.

What type of riding do you plan on doing?? What frame size are you looking for? Do you plan on making the 4300 your full time commuter? I was thinking of selling my full suspension, but it may be more bike than you are looking for.

My 4300 has seen its better days i would probably try to get rid of it and just get two sets of rubber for the new bike.

I plan on riding single track as posted I hope to start racing next year once I gain more skill and get in better shape. I was told by a local shop that a 19" frame would suit me well
