As many of you may already know, the IMBA Trail Care Crew is coming to town. The trail school will be held on Friday July 25th and Saturday July 26th. Check out this thread if you want to get signed up for that.

http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27171

The following Sunday July 27th we will have an organized group ride at Murphy for everyone, not just the people who signed up for the school, at 12pm. The ride will get split up into 3 groups, fast, medium, and take it easy. I was going to call the last group slow, but that would not be very "politically correct" now would it?

There will be a BBQ after the ride. The location is still being sorted out, but I think we have a lead. I will post more details about that as I get them.

I would like to have 2 more ride leaders. One to lead the fast riders, I think that means you have to actually be fast....;). I also need someone for the casual group. I will lead the medium speed group. I know mara will probably take sweep, she seems to always jump at the opportunity to be last for some reason. We really only need one sweep for the last group since.....well.....they are last.

There you have it. It should be a lot of fun. Post up, chat about it, PM me if you want to be a ride leader...........and so on.

I plan on coming for the group ride. If anyone would like to ride point to point and stop on occasion to have their photo taken I can haul my gear along.

No, but you could have gone with "Special".

Gary Sjoquist has offered up his place for the after ride BBQ. If you don't know who he is, he is one of the leading cycling advocates in our area. So a huge thanks goes to him for offering up his place.

Click on google map link for location.

Gary's House (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=15972+Hyland+Pointe+Ct.,+Apple+Valley,+MN+55124&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=50.644639,76.992187&ie=UTF8&ll=44.719051,-93.248949&spn=0.044765,0.075188&z=14&iwloc=addr)

Take a walk around the East side of his house and down the stairs. The deck and lake are in back where the BBQ will be held. I would say we would start showing up there around 2:30 or 3. I think people can just go when they are done riding. One lap should take about 1:15 or so.......and we might want to ride more, not sure. I guess we will keep it fluid.

Still looking for 2 ride leaders. One fast one and one relaxed take it easy one.

Let me know if you want to lead a group.

Sorry the ride changed some. Pete decided not to lead it, so I took this on. I moved it up to noon since it seems a bit late to start a ride at 1:30, then go to a BBQ after....on a Sunday.

Do you actually need a "group leader" for the fast group? That group kind of makes up their own rules anyway...

Good Point... I don't think the fast group needs a leader, just someone to say go.

I guess I was thinking a leader for each group is nice for those who have not ridden Murphy before. But I do agree that the fast group could probably do without a leader, since chances are they will not be new to Murphy.

Matt Machaiek has taken on the task of leading the "we just want to take it really easy" group.

I plan the lead the medium paced group.

I think we decided the fast people can do what they want....:)

Hope to see a bunch of you there!

VEGGIES----ain't that what cows eat? So if cows eat veggies I guess that makes them vegitarian so yup I guess if you buy that logic then we are having veggie burgers and dogs!

Bump and update. Some of us will have a meeting Sunday morning that ends a noon, so we will start the ride at 12:30 to give extra time for everyone to get there. We are meeting in the Murphy parking lot.

Hope to see you there!!

I plan on riding. Hopefully someone can tell me why I can't get my rear brake to stop squeeling (so I'll be way in the back). Its driving me crazy...and no comments that its a short drive!

Laura and I were planning on doing the group ride and bbq. Not sure how long we'll be able to stay as we'll have to get home to the dogs at some point.

The MORC board has a meeting from 9am - noon. We will be making our best effort to get there by 12:30, but if we are not, hang in there.

I see some rain on the radar. The first wave looks like it will miss us and head south. The second wave is in South Dakota and it's tough to see where it's headed, but it looks like it also might miss us. So cross your fingers.

If the ride gets rained out, we still plan to do the BBQ at Gary's.

The second wave looks like it will miss us just to the south....:) The ride is on! See you there!

Thanks to everyone who organized this ride it was a blast! It was nice to finally have faces to put to some of the names I see here.

Thanks Gary for hosting the bbq and having us all over to your home. I haven't swum in a lake like that in years, really was a very fine day...

Collins and Kelly, great to see you again and I really wish Kelly could stay here for a while to ride with us women!

Yesterday was awesome! It was great meeting Carl, Jake and Maryland Josh! It was cool seeing Ryan Buck again too! Thanks Gary for letting us invade your place the post ride festivities. I hope no one got sick from the burgers and brats that I grilled. I am A-OK this morning!

Yeah, it ended up being waaay fast. Gary was hammering up front and we were trying to keep up. But I did tone down the ride about 1/2 way through and let Gary go hammer. He later slowed down to join us....:)

I was okay with it all. I knew the slower group was back there and that people could drop back in they wanted.

Thank you Gary for putting your house and lake up to this. I had a fabulous time! And, no permanent bruising from the fish nibbles!

Tim, Collins, & Kelly, thanks for all the work you did teaching people trail building. Someday hopefully I will be able to attend. Take care!
