Sorry to rain on your parade, but I'd rather ride somewhere local as REI beckons at 3.

Dammit! That's two rides I'm missing because of Alaska. Have fun. Don't forget the wet wipes.

I'm interested in riding up at Elk River Sat. - the time actually works for my schedule too.
See ya there.

Hmmm, let's see...50s, freeze-dried food, sideways rain, kayaking on choppy seas, Grizzly bears, no Starbucks. OR...riding with cool girls under warm sunshine.
I'm going to go mad.

Have a GREAT time!! Say hi to my parents. They left Last Monday for a 21 day trip there. 2 weeks on land, last week Inside Passage cruise. It has been upper 70s where they have been during the day. Reached 80 one day.

OK - back to the biking..
I should be in, Meghann, we can talk later about time etc.
I will not be able to make a day of it, I'm supposed to help a friend move (I hope for not long) - then I have a B-day deal to attend.

Um, what does your moving and birthday party have to do with biking, btw? If we're really staying on topic....

OFF topic - ditto!
No need to explain, just state wether you are attending or not, and when, and for how long, and your style. Just the facts, Jack!

Um - are you even posting about this ride??
When I originally posted, I thought I had pretty much most of the day open, turns out to not be the case - so hence why I mention that I have plans for the afternoon (which does have to do with the ride and car-pool'n).
I can see if Carl will be riding, then maybe you can try out the Blur - that is if you are even thinking of going on the ride, I mean you did post in this thread right??

Why all this squabbling, now the real question is,
Could product placement be done in a sci-fi movie?

Yes. Watch BladeRunner. I seem to recall [sic] Total Recall being full of product placement as well, but that is more trash than sci-fi.
YAY! Thearjacking!

Get yourself a plane ticket and you're in. You'll have to miss the ride however.
I can't make this, I don't know when I will be able to ride. I sort of had a slightly embarrassing accident of falling down steps backwards with a very large object in my arms. ARRGHHH! Oh well, have fun everybody! *sob*

Nita -
Sorry to hear about the fall - I hope you're OK..
I did that once, back in JH.. I fell carrying an 80lb bag of salt down a set of stairs (I only weighed 120 at the time), my foot slipped off a step & fell backwards with the bag on top of me - caused a back spasm so bad, I could not move for a day or so.

We got some rain here in mpls, but not a lot.. Seems like it could be/ fine to ride here - but what was it like up there in Elk River? Anyone know if it will be fine to ride today @ 10?

I don't know what Elk River got, but at my house, which isn't that far from yours (but maybe far enough north that you were on the light end of the storm), it absolutely downpoured for about a half hour. Absolute sheets (!!) of rain were coming down. If it rained like that at Theo, there's no way THAT would be rideable today, but like I said, maybe it just missed you. I'd wait for a report from Rich before you head all the way up to Elk River.

I actually wasn't home - so no idea how much it rained here (or anywhere)..
So we are calling the ride off, due to no idea what it's like up there & kind of a long way to just find out you can not ride.
In place we will do a blacktop ride (weather permitting) - around 11:30.
One of us will post at 10 AM where (more than likely from Tug's along the river and back).
This weather sucks!
P.S.
BK - sig from the H.S. - Stuck Between Stations.. Nice!

So this f'n weather sucks, I was kind of holding off due to rain at my place (and a little thunder) - calling it, so not to have others wait around.
A few of us are meeting at Chino-Latino in Uptown around 11:30 for lunch instead.

Can check for rain amounts at this link. Weather station near the trail.

No idea how much rain is too much. There was .3" on Friday and seemed "OK" Sat AM (3-4 wet spots) - but had not rained for a while, so absorbed it fast.
Is particularlty helpful when you can see that there was no rain there when there may have been a local storm at your location.
