I am heading out to montana and am hoping to get some permission to do some riding at least one of the days that we are out there. Is there any recomended trails, preferably near a day spa to distract the wife? we are going to glacier and then heading down to bozeman to visit and friend and see yellowstone.

Do you know your route yet? I used to live in Missoula and you can ride out of town and hit some sweet single track. Eric is right about the love for Big Sky.
Also had some real good beers out there may have been from Bozeman Brewery. Beer always taste better a mile high. I call it the Coors/FT phenomenon.
If you head through Missoula/etc make sure to check out Kettlehouse Brewery. Awesome beer. and +1 on Big Sky for trails.

Spend a day at Big Sky and rent a DH bike, you won't regret it.
Also give these guys a call:

They were really helpful last time I was out there.

What kind of riding? When you're up by glacier, stop in or call ahead to Glacier Cyclery (http://www.glaciercyclery.com/) in Whitefish. They'll set you up. Oh, and Whitefish is a tourist town, definitely some spas around there.

screw the dayspa! slap some spandex and a helmet on her & get her dirty - a nice dirt treatment always does the body good - helps keep the skin looking young as scar tissue does not wrinkle!

RIDE the Sourdough trail to emarald lake - you'll see why, look out for elk and moose though!!
Others, story hills single track, Leverich (Killer climb), Hyalite Canyon has several other good single tracks that break off of obvious OHV trails. Hyalite is also a tough and worthwhile road ride from downtown Bozeman.
Just a couple to let you know some names. There are literally hundreds of miles of epic singletrack around bozeman, missoula, whitefish, etc.

she never liked riding offroad when she wasn't preggers, now that she about 7 months along I don't think she will be up for much rough stuff. although on the bright side, I don't need to out ride the beer just the pregnant woman I am with...
I ride xc, rigid ss 29er style. I prefer trails with lots of climbing and descending (which I am sure I will regret seeking out there) I have toyed with the idea of renting a dh rig and trying to find the tamish trails at big sky, but I think that may lead to bodily harm. So xc on the ss seems to be what I am seeking.

Yep, hundreds of miles around each of those cities. One guy I got to know at a LBS in Whitefish said (last year) he figured he hadn't rode even 1/2 the trails in the area - that he knew of. And he was there in the early 90s when it all started out there.

1+Whitefish. It will be relatively close and would be perfect if you want up and downs. Whitefish Mountain has not hopped on the Downhill/Freeride scene as much as Big Sky, so you are left with more epic scenic trails vs bombing downhill. You really can't beat it out there, if you haven't been there definitely check it out. One other bonus is the mountains in the Glacier area are quite low in comparison to Colorado so altitude will not have the same effect for a short one day riding trip. If you were looking for more downhill fun, I would say head to Bozeman.

Apparently things are changing though...
Construction of the new downhill trail will begin in late July, or earlier if warm temperatures and rain continue.

The big news about biking this year is the installation of the new ‘Downhill Trail’.
This ‘freeride’ style trail will be geared towards upper intermediate riders and will provide a better and more fun ride than anywhere else in the state of Montana. Construction begins late July, look for it to open early August.
That's kick ass. I heard they had issue with there insurance, as most places do, but this is great news. I was worried about new ownership up there but seems like it might be working out better for them, not to mention the new road to the resort is completed.
All aboard!...might have to take the train out there this summer yet....

We took the train out to Whitefish this winter to ski, the skiing was amazing as was the train ride. I highly recommend it. There is still quite a bit of snow on the north face of Big Mountain, but the front side looks clear...

I will have two days at St. Mary, MT. Any XC trail tips?

St. Mary is on the East side of Glacier park, you can't ride in the park, and I don't know if there are any trails over on that side. But if you want a road ride, go up Going to the Sun road, you'll be right there. Or if you can drive a bit, go down to Hwy 2 and head West along the south side of the park. I think there are some trails pretty close to there, but I know there are a bunch between West Glacier (1.5hr from St Mary) and Columbia Falls (1:45). The Hungry Horse Reservoir is right in there, that's pretty cool to see, there's some trails up that way along the 'South fork' of the Flathead river, and if you head back North along the West side of the park there are some trails along the North Fork too. If you want to drive to the Whitefish area, that's only 15 min past Columbia Falls. Get a Flathead National Forest Map and/or a Glacierview Ranger District Map and you'll be able to find a lot of trails on it.
Also, you can ride some trails on the Canadian side of the park (Waterton Lakes). I've never been there, but you will be pretty close so you might want to look into that. It doesn't look like the trails are too great from their website though.
