Note the changed day... Monday! Due to Liz's birthday I wanted to switch this up so we could still have trailwork this coming week. Much to do on the new trail!
Post up if you can make it. 6pm in the lot as usual. There are a lot of different tasks to complete and the opening of the new trail seems to be getting pushed back.
Hope to see you there.

Count me in...but you're REALLY throwing a kink in my system. I sure hope I can re-progarm my head and remember to go on Monday. I am bringing back my cordless drills...we going to need them?

My son's baseball game for once is Monday, not Tuesday. Go figure. Only one week left though then I should be available.

I have to work late. Have a good night at trail work. Ask Eric about his handy pocket reference he will give each of you Monday night.

If you mean cookies and not ticks... there are a few levels of good. There is bought (ok), then there is bought mix and baked at home (better) and then there is home made (best).
We are known for our cookie connoisseurs so its important to keep them fed properly. :p

Yes, I was referring to the cookies. Does that mean the last ones were not the best leve? how could you stoop so low? I agree with your ratings. Some of the bought cookies, are not even ok. I get very sad when I break down and eat a bought cookie and it sucks. Lucky workers tonite!! Don't burn them.

BTW: we are in need of the rock hounds out on the new trail... lots of great rocks near the new trail that need harvesting.

Hmmm... maybe bring it just in case. If Ted shows up we can have a few people finishing the other boardwalk section.
We have a lot of new machine built trail to work on as well... trimming out roots, finishing work, etc. This would probably be the backup plan or an option for a second crew.
There are some obstacles planned in a few areas we could work on as well depending on turnout.

Oh yea, Tim dug in a really cool berm last week and we need some berm experts to help shape it.

I would be willing to work on the berm or do finishing work on the new trail. I like doing that stuff, because I am not skilled enough to use scary power tools...

Is that the 60 foot diameter 180 we saw when we "walked" the trail Thursday or was it farther back?
I think I will be there.

It was the one that wasn't dug yet when we walked the trail. It was just past the larger radious berm that was further along.
He dug into the side of the hill and pushed a lot of dirt down. Ted was out there and made sure it had a real good exit too it.
I haven't seen it but would imagine it needs a lot of shaping.

I plan to be there and I'd be up for that. It might be best to pile up the form in the basic layout and pack it pretty well but let it sit and really firm up for a week before the final shaping.

I will be out there to lead a boardwalk crew. If anyone else has a battery sawsall, that would be good. I will bring mine. Drills will be used as well.

Just in case people are curious, the punch list for the new trail looks something like this (not in order):
o Finish machine work (one afternoon left)
o Finish boardwalks 1 and 2
o 3rd Boardwalk (upper pond... 40-50')
o Shape berms
o Complete Hand Finishing (1/4 of the trail left)
o Pin Trail
o Signage for new trail
o Rock hounding
o Some speed control trail features (mostly rock work, possibly some step downs)
o Some tree roots to be covered up
o Trim eye pokers, tire pokers
o Some erosion control in the "Sidewinder" section of the trail
o Finish shaping the "Y Ride" :p
o Walk trail, do misc hand finishing/trail shaping as required
o Build berm leading into new trail (last trailwork before opening)
o Reclaim unused trail sections
Other optional features to be added later, such as a diving board, a water gnome, skinny option off boardwalks etc.
We really want to be sure all these are completed before opening so we don't immediately create another dream trail nightmare.
Of course the more that show up the quicker we'll get through the list and the sooner we'll be adding lots of great new climbing to our ride ;)

What are we calling this new section?
re-dream?

Well.. it is by water.. so...
DOH!
We have only come up with "Lake Loop" so far... yea, original.. maybe someone will fall in the lake and we'll name the trail after them.

Thanks to everyone for your hard work last night. Its slow going but the end is getting closer and closer. Word is the machine might be out today, and a few things got done or closer to done last night.
With 4th of July week coming up we'll probably have lower turnouts so its looking like August for an opening.
Updated list:
Just in case people are curious, the punch list for the new trail looks something like this (not in order):
o Finish machine work (one afternoon left - probably done today)

o 3rd Boardwalk (upper pond... 40-50')
o Shape berm (completed last night)
o Complete Hand Finishing (1/4 of the trail left - crew got a start last night)
o Pin Trail
o Signage for new trail
o Rock hounding
