I have a pretty cheapo SR Suntour crankset on my bike with a square taper pin BB (I know, old school). The other day, the bolt that holds the left crank arm wiggled loose and I almsot lost it.

Should I be worried about torqueing that bolt to any specific amount? Is there a relatively common amount I could use and get away with it? And is it ok/recommended to use thread-lock?

I'm gonna try to upgrade later this summer if funds allow...any suggestions for a clydesdale rider that hits theo about 3 times a week?

350 is the torque spec I believe, so the need to be really tight

If you use thread lock don't use the permanent stuff. I think proper torque should be about 35-40 foot pounds.
