Couple of quick questions..
1) I was assembling a 2007 Stumpjumper FSR, and tightened the center screw in the fork a bit too much. It's got a threadless headset. Can I just pop that center nut out and re-seat it? (Fox Recon fork)
2) Can I buy the dust boots for a headset, or do I need to buy an entire new headset? I've got some cracks to deal with. It's a Chris King headset.

I have a hard time believing you were able to move the start nut inside the fork. Those should be in there extremely tight. If you did somehow manage to move it then you'd just pound it down through the steerer tube and then have a new one installed.
Double check though to see if you actually did move it though. That nut it only used to snug things up. The bolts on the side of th stem are what keep the stem in place.
Call Chris King, if you have cracks and things were assembled properly, it should be covered under warranty.

I think I'd bring it to a shop, steering is important.

I bought the bike used from a guy in California who beat the heck out of it. It was shipped in a few boxes, and I assembled it.
I'll keep this in mind - the start nut just seemed like it moved a little, but it's still in there solidly.
Thanks for the info!
