Well, my riding partner got ALL of his gear (including his bike) stolen a couple of weeks ago, but I just can't take it anymore, I'm headed to Leb by myself tonight for the first time.

I planned on doing the beginner's loop as a "warm-up" (I'm fairly out of shape still so that may be all I can handle...lol) and then on to the expert's loop.

I'm pretty excited. This will be the first time on some decent midwest trails. I started my MTB career on some of the best trails in TX so I'm looking forward to "the best" of the midwest vs. "the best" of TX. Anyone got some tips?

Hmmm... maybe just watch out for fallen trees. Those of us who normally clear the trail are at the board meeting tonight so are not going to be able to check things out.

Enjoy your ride!!

Recruit someone to ride with for your first time at Leb...it will make it lots more fun.

Where would I find one of these "recruits"? lol

One other question, I was reading the trail guide and it says that it's about 8.3 miles. Is that up-to-date for 2008? If it is, I'm definitely hitting the whole thing tonight. I can hardly sit here at work, it might be an early day....(about the only perk of being salary)

I'll make sure to update everyone on my thoughts on the trails and how they compare to the ones in TX.....not that a n00b's opinion counts for much anyways. :p

Its more like 7.3 right now, depending on what trails you take. We have some sections that are under construction that will open this year that will make it more like 8.5 miles or so.

Yell at Nita or Decoeric. They are great people that know the trail. If they can't make it I am sure someone will post up.

I think I am going to skip my run and go ride tonight over there. I can run in the rain... I will most likely be there around 447 or so.

I've been PM'ing decoeric so for anyone else that's interested....

One of us will probably be there between 3:45 and 4:30. (Sorry for the big range of times, it just depends on how much time I spend on here rather than working. lol) If I get there closer to 4:00 I'm probably going to ride the warm up loop before decoeric shows up. I drive a grey Honda Civic with WI plates...

You will recognize Eric by looking for long, blonde hair, leopard spotted bike(with banana seat) and he drives a red, white and blue Triumph Spitfire.

I'm totally down but I can't make it until 5:30 at the earliest. I havent ridden Leb since the middle of August last summer....I think I can do it without getting too lost.

Thanks to everyone that showed me around. It definitely wouldn't have been as fun by myself and probably would have been too scared to try the log climbs all by myself.

**Here's a tip for people that haven't ridden there before....DO NOT hit the mega pile going full speed!

I second the first part, it was extremely helpful to ride with a group my first time there. We should do it again some time.:D Thanks
Now as for the second part I would bet Dave had nightmares of the medavac chopper last night.:) It was a sight to see. Thanks again
