Anyone know what the trails are like? Who's going?

The decorah area has some awesome single track. There is some good climbing and very technical stuff. Not sure which trails they are using for the ballyhoo, but it's sure to be a good time.

I'm shooting a wedding that weekend but I do believe Pete Ryan was thinking of going.

Sounds like fun, but I usually avoid events for the elite. I like to hang out with the little people on their little bikes.
Trails are really good but poorly marked. It would be a great place to ride with someone who knew where they were going. Lots of climbing.... but then again that leads to lots of downhill! I've only ridden there twice, but had good times, even through we were thoroughly lost.

Good point. To be clear, BWB is a 29er-centric event.
Small wheeled people are welcome but relegated to mandatory beer slut duties.

Looks like a circus event for clown bikes.

Don't worry, Craig. It's normal for people to fear what they cannot understand.

I thought that the numerical system worked pretty well for how cheap and simple it was. I stopped by decorah bike before I road and have the worker explain the best route to me though, that is always a good idea when riding strange trails I've found.

I'll be attending and will actually have a few demo bikes from the shop there. Jamis Exiles in 17, 19, and 21. The trails used for the demo loop last year were the Palisades on the east side.
The trails as a whole aren't easy, but the damn are they fun. They are numbered as Ben said, so as long as you can count, you should be ok.
I do hope to get a good number of you folk down. Its well worth the drive, and you don't even have to bring your own bike. Salsa, Surly, Fisher, Turner, Titus, Raliegh, Jamis, Niner, and maybe one or two more will be there with demo rides. Just bring your riding gear and a tent if you're camping. And be prepared to have a good time.

Next time I am down seeing my folks in Elkader, I'll stop over to your shop and you can kick my ass!
Hope you have a good turnout.

Yeah, the BBH is canceled, but the locals in Decorah are still holding an event that weekend. They have secured a campsite, liquid sustinance, and have been making sure the trails are ridable. Direct word is that they're in very good shape now, despite all this rain. They're planning trail rides, and maybe even an informal enduro/rally type event.
The biggest issue for the ballyhoo, was that the camping/expo area is now under several feet of very rapidly moving water. This new site is accessible by car, but not really something with a truck/trailer combo(or so I think).
This is an important weekend for the Decorah Peeps, and they still want folks to come down. If you planned on it, you should still come down and enjoy the hospitality of Decorah.
Will the manufacturers still be there? They had quite a few brands represented that I wanted to ride.
