Is there a fun group ride/bbq planned anywhere Sunday or Monday in the metro? I know there's the jail trail one, but I just can't spend that much money on gas when there are perfectly awesome trails in the city for me to visit.
A Murphy or Leb one would be fun, or even Elk River or BC. Would anyone be up for that? I'm stayin' in town this weekend, so I'm lookin' for stuff to do!
Post up ideas and if we land on something, I can change the thread title to reflect what we decide.
Edit: Decided on Murphy on Monday at 10 a.m., with barbequeing at noonish.

I kinda want to go to Murphy on monday, heading to the lake, but coming back on sunday to avoid traffic!!
Murphy sounds awesome for a barbecue. I missed the last one and sorta don't want to jinx myself again. Let's do it! Weather may be a factor though for Sunday...

Let's do Murphy on Monday.
10 a.m. ride time, do a couple of laps or more, then barbeque around 12 or 12:30.
I'll bring my little propane hibachi grill this time.
Can you have beer in the Murphy lot?
THUMP!

Eric, Gus and myself had a little ride planned for 10am on Monday at Murphy...don't know if we are still heading there but we might see ya!
We have to be careful though...Nita sounds like she might be there.

Yes, and lots of it. Enjoy! Wish I could make it but I will have the puppy p!ss!ng all over my kitchen by then so I will be cleaning up after it. Pray for no poops. Have fun!

You should come to the bbq portion of the day and bring your puppy! I'd even volunteer to watch her while you ride a lap or two. :)

Too late...my turn to push you off your bike! :p

I'm around this weekend & was planning on riding Monday, but not sure where.
50/50 on making this ride/BBQ - depends how much I get done on Sun.

The truth is out there.
I don't know if I can ride Monday or not.
I never like to make any claims, then when I don't show, no one can talk smack.

The rain in blaine causes pain in the drain.
If only the trail could be as dry as my sense of humor, And not as wet as my liver.

I only see a 20% chance all day tomorrow...but how much does it have to rain today for the trails to not be rideable? I'm not too familiar with Murphy and how it holds up. Did last night's rain wreck it for a couple of days?

Pending weather I may be up for this. I'm not in all-weather mode quite yet. BTW, beautiful puppy.

A reminder... Murphy is not an all-weather trail (along with most every trail in the area). It is considered closed and should not be ridden when the trail is wet or muddy. Typically the trail will need 18-24 hours to dry after a significant rain.

Has there been significant rain there today?
I only ask because in Apple Valley, it has been sunny most of the day. Even during a short period of sprinkles, the sun was still shining so many people may not be aware they need to be concerned about riding.
Also, so far, if Murphy is muddy, Leb should still be in great shape.

I'm guessing it's gonna be okay to ride tomorrow morning, but if someone could post up trail conditions, that'd be swell. :)
If Murphy ends up closed, I'll just move this to a different trail that's open, but I don't think that'll have to happen.

I rode theo 2 hr ago. It rained for less the 2 minutes, not even enough to knock down the dust. It looks like most of the rainy weather tracked to the north of the citys.
I'll be going, even if there is a venue change. leb, theo, moab, ect...
There is a seat or two open if ya want to car pool. P.s. no canon balls off the high dive.
Oh and if some one has Fire, and willing to share, I'll have some chicken and homebrew to share.
send a PM if car pool

I'll share my fire for a homebrew! Yum! I'll have bleu cheeseburgers and hot dogs. And some potato salad...maybe brownies, but it's not lookin' good since it's already 10 and I still have to make the burgers.

However, I have no fire.

As far as I can tell, there was no rain last night, and the trail should still be in awesome condition.
Can't wait to see/meet everyone!

Man, I missed this post yesterday. We were there at 9 and I think I saw the group starting to show up when we finished.
If I remeber from the one time I met April this winter do you drive a red civic? Did it have a pink bike on top.
Anyway, I showed back up around 11:30 with my wife and kid for a hike and saw the group still hanging out.
If I knew it was morc'ers I would have came over and met some people.

That's my car! And my bike! :) And it was me.
I was JUST thinking on the way home that I bet there were a few more people out there who would've stopped by if they knew we were all MORCers. I think I'm gonna try to round up a MORC flag or something, so we can hoist it every time we do one of these bbqs and meet some new folks!
Today was really fun! Sorry about a) showing up late because I forgot my freakin' helmet (grrrr) and b) botching the grill situation. HUGE thanks go to Tom for saving the day (and surviving my driving) by coughing up the dough for a new grill at Tar-zhay.
Q: What did the melted marshmallow say to Tom?
A: Sorry for gettin' all up in yo' grill!
Also, thanks to Meghann for offering the use of your parents' place for grilling...I would've taken you up on it, but I thought maybe Jessica or someone else might show up...and Neil was still out ridin', along with a couple of others that had said they might join us, so I didn't want to take off.
I wish the sun would've been out more, but all in all, it was a great day of riding and a really fun time at the grillin' circle of love, as usual.
John, (our fearless leader), we thought of you when a VAT of cheesy poofs showed up on Cal's tailgate.

Yeah, I planned on showing up but just couldn't get myself out of bed this morning. Actually, neither of us was were motivated at all today.
Next time for sure, I really need to get out on a group ride and meet some of 'yall.

Thanks to Mel, Eric and Gus for goin' slow for me after that sweet tree hug. The ER on a holiday was fairly interesting. Nothing broken, spleen intact, just major bruising. Hopefully the doc is wrong and I won't be out for 6 weeks. Morphine and Percoset, what a combo.
Thank you for putting this on April! Sweet Katy, I am beholden to you for my 2nd beer :p and Tom for that amazing coffee brew...wow! It was a fun ride despite that my Salsa clip skewered me. Holy crap, talk about a bullseye! Nice to see everyone again.
