I do trail/freeriding and I want to know what the best brakes out there are as far as performance / durability. Whats the difference in the juicy 7 compared to the 9's ? And where do the avid codes rate in comparison to them? . Im more after performance then weight saving. Any ideas?

Check out Formula brakes. THE ONE is their FR/DH brake, but the k24 has lots of stopping power as well and would beat out the J7.

What makes you say they would beat the J7? Weight, price, performance??
Personally I would recommend the J7's, but I haven't put any time in on Formulas.

Price is a wash between the J7 and the K24, K24 is a little lighter. I haven't put much time on the J7, But the k24 just has a better feel.

Not sure, but housing can be cut to the length needed.
I am a fan of saint brakes, I will get the 09 saint brakes as soon as they are available, unless I build a XC bike which I will run Hope brakes.

Been hearing great stuff about the new Hayes Strokers.

Good info can be had on Avid's website. (http://www.sram.com/en/avid/hydraulicdiscbrakes/code.php) The codes have a 4 piston caliper for more strength.
Ted - thanks for the MTBR links. I checked and the formulas aren't homer approved so I'm sticking with my J7 recomendation.:D

I ran the saint brakes for a year and never had a problem (helps that I can install them correctly...) but those things rocked. I also got to ride with the mono-6's, granted those things are ****, just out of my price range. just my 2cents.
