View Full Version : Patrollers for City Of Lakes Tri-Loppet?

TrailPatrol

The City of Lakes Tri-Loppet triathlon will be on June 28th this year, following basically the same course as the ski race, in reverse. The Loppet committee has asked us to provide patrollers to cover the mountain bike portion of the race in Wirth Park, which is the final leg. Patrollers should be there by 9:00 AM and will be done by 1:00 PM. Swag is a nice hat and lunch. Dr. Mike Broten is the medical director for the event.

Let me know if you are interested and/or available to help.

Thanks,
Hans

says that course marshalls should meet at Wirth Beach, I'd take a random guess and say that'd be a good place for us too? Let me know, I'll be there.

Dan doesn't know it yet, but I am going to make him and Scott Stammer the leads on this. Give me 'til later to find Dr. Broten's contact info, and he'll know all about it.

Usually we meet at Wirth Beach about 8:00 AM.

I have to teach a class that got postponed due to the search, so I can't be there.

Later,
Hans

I have to work at the bike shop on Saturday and I can't ride a bike for 5 weeks anyways. Good luck.

Drew,
I can swing by and pick you up. I have a bike rack I've never used because my bike fits into my car (and is a FS that doesn't go onto a trunk rack easily anyway). I'll be coming up from Eagan. PM me your address and we'll set something up.

Edit: Unless Dan is going, in which case perhaps we can all carpool rather than having me and Dan drive from basically the same spot!

Since Dan is wimping out on yet another patrol activity (I mean really, what is more important, work and family or the MMBP???) Scott Stammer will have to be lead on this one. Scott and Jodi poke around the MORC forum on an irregular basis, so I will point him this way. I am sure they can use anyone who wants to help out.

Ride safe,

I won't be able to attend because I had to re-schedule something else to go on the search. Besides, I got your voicemail yesterday, and I am just waiting to hear back from Dr. Broten as to what time you need to be at Wirth on Saturday. I am guessing 8:30, which is when I think it was the last two years. I remember breakfasting with you at Perkins early one Saturday morning.

City of Lakes Tri-Loppet Coverage

Be at Wirth Beach area at 8:30 Saturday morning, unless you hear differently from Dan, Scott or myself. Wear your red jerseys, but if you have TCM EMS vests, bring them for those who don't have jerseys yet.

Dr. Mike Broten is medical director again this year. We will be working primarily the bike trails at Wirth. One patroller should stay at the finish with the docs, and basically cover from the far side of the wooden bridge to the finish line. If the bridge is wet (rain or heavy dew) stay right at the bridge...it gets very slippery.

Ride safe,
Hans

Tony/Drew (and Shad/Mara):

Not sure which one of you mentioned the wild parsnip on the loppet trail. Scott has something on his arm that might have resulted from that and we wondered if anyone else was affected.

We look forward to patrolling w/you again soon!

Jodi - Sorry to hear that. I didn't have any problems myself other than about 7 mosquito bites.
