The new trail we will be building this year will feature two boardwalks over damp/wet areas. To build these will take a significant amount of treated wood.

We thought... why not ask the membership to see if anyone knows of a good deal out there on treated wood. Perhaps someone who knows someone that can get us a discount... or someone willing to ask around for a cost break from stores?

The idea is to build similar to this (without the mud, and the expert offshoot would be an 09 add-on unless we can get a good deal on wood)

We believe each will need to be appx. 80-90' long, built mostly out of treated deck boards, and 2x6 stringers.

Who knows, maybe with all the elevated stuff people are building this year we can work out a discount for everyone who wants?

Yup, abosolutely. I don't yet know exactly what we need size wise but we'll have to get some bolts and some deck screws...

John - try the RE-Use It Center in Minneapolis. http://www.thereusecenter.com/lumberwarehouse.html

I inquired about cedar etc and they have it. I am building the kids a playhouse. They mentioned 45 cents a LF and I assume the pre-treated stuff may be cheaper. Just a thought:D

our company allows us to purchase any items at their cost, so i am assuming that i would be able to get a fairly good deal on any hardware items.

What are you going to do with all of that lumber that I removed the nails from last summer?

Its possible we can use some of that... but I don't want to junk together mismatching pieces when building these bridges. Those were originally scheduled to exetend the camelback on down the trail before the log ladder. We'll get to that someday I'm sure....

Thanks again for removing the nails BTW!
