NOTE: OPENING TIME CHANGED TO 4PM (NOW)

As posted in the MORC member forum earlier today...

We will be opening Lebanon Hills today at 6pm. We have spoken to Dakota County and they will be opening the lot and trail entrances/exits at that time.

PLEASE NOTE...

We have not cleared the trail yet. There are still some fences in the way and we do know of some trees and branches in the way of the trail. We need time to get around the trail and clear or properly mark these problem areas before we get riders on the trail. We can't have people out on the trail before we are able to do this, so 6pm is a set time. Please DO NOT get anxious and head out early. (We will be working back there this afternoon.)

Also, we do have rain in the forecast.. we are taking a chance by opening today so we can get some riders to pack the trail in. We are hoping that people will NOT ride, as always, during and even right away after a rain. Please give the trail extra time in the next few weeks to dry until things get packed in... that means give it a good 24 hours (at least) of sun and wind before going back out. (If we get rain Thursday, Friday and Saturday that means no riding on Sunday.. we will have Dakota close the lot during and after extended rain, so please continue to check the trail conditions page) Always remember that just because a trail is open for the year doesn't mean it isn't closed when wet.

Having said that, we want as many people to ride tonight after 6pm as possible. The trail is soft and a bit damp, so if you could please take extra care not to rip around corners it would be greatly appreciated. As we may not be able to remove all downed trees we urge everyone to ride with extra caution.

Enough rules and caution... get out and ride... AFTER 6pm....<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Hey John, just fyi but your description of Leb on the Trail Condition page says the trail is opening April 20...instead of April 30. I wouldn't want anyone to get confused... :eyeroll: :D

See you out there. Maybe.

Many of us spend our working days staring at computer screens.

Now what am I going to do with my Flux Capacitor and De Lorean? I was really hoping it opened on the 20th.

We just got back from making our passes on the trail.

Everything is now cleared, except for 3 big downed trees. One on the X-out, One just after the big log pile on the exit trail, and one in a fast section on Dream.

John will be out there with a chainsaw this evening. If you come up on him, please stop to see if he needs a hand moving the logs off of the trail. They are big, and it will take more than one person to move them.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Remember, It is supposed to rain Thursday through Saturday. Once the rain shows up, please stay off until it dries out. We'll post up. Thanks.

Rode it. Liked it.
Heard the chainsaw from the X but by the time I got to the log mountain and found the victim, the lumberjack was gone. Two riders and I removed what we could and what is left will be easy to remove by anyone who can saw them loose.

That ride felt so damn good. So damn good that John got a spanking of appreciation. Tim declined.

Bob, I owe you a firm smack of the spandex.

Thanks for doing that. My chain was dull by the time I got that far, and I had to go do more trail flagging... so I didn't get everything cut that I wanted. Might have to get Dakota out to help with the large part that is over the X loop exit... that thing is SOLID oak. Might make for good add-ons to the monster log pile. :p

I had to go do more trail flagging...
Did you flag in the big loop on the ridge that Bob was scouting Tuesday?

I'm going to pitch this again:
With all those nice solid logs in that area, we could just lay them down end to end right on the ground and make a really cool, natural style skinny.

We got into that area but not very high up the ridge...

I want to thank John, Bob and who ever else helped to get the trail cleared. Awesome ride last night. I wish the rain would stay away so I could do it again. Can't wait to help out at trail work. Thanks again:banana:

The park is open until 10pm so if you are close, just put some lights on and hit it at night. The later you go sometimes the better the parking like last night. It was packed when we went in and was almost clear when we got out.

Just don't forget... the park (including the lot) is closed at 10. If parks patrol is good about anything, its catching people coming out of the lot late and ticketing them.

Mountain bikers are getting a bad reputation of pushing the 10pm limit lately... (this also means no parking off site and riding in to get in a later lap)

sorry to rain on your parade, Steve. Fortunately, the 30th is now in the past, so your flux capacitor again has a purpose
