Milaca is one of those trails that seem to be forgotten about, in my opinion it is a true mtb trail, not groomed with added features to make it more difficult, it is naturally difficult. Where else can you find natural rockgardens, numerous bridges, nasty root sections, switchbacks, technical climbs with roots and rocks. Plus there are no crowds to deal with, i have ridden many times where i am the only rider out there, its nice.

I dont want the trail to be manicured but a little more use would help alot! If you havent been there make sure to visit once it dries out. I know some people put alot of effort getting bridges and baordwalks put in and maintained, thank you!! I am going to try my best at helping out this year with trail maintenence and repair even if i just bring a lopper along when i go for a ride.

If anyone else feels like getting together to do some work and repair let me know so we can schedule something.

The past years the bridges do not get put in untill there is race which usually was in August. Season is half over by then. Groups of people I ride with still go up there 2+X year but most were aprehensive until the bridges were definitely in. Are you saying the bridges will be put in earlier than normal?

For about the last three years the bridges at Milaca have been permanant and trail conditions have been very good. Please do come up for a little good single track. Trails are too wet now(after 1 1/2 in. of rain) and spring thaw.

Mark, did you hit Milaca last fall? The trail was in unbelievably good condition. John and Craig did a lot of work out there it really shows. John, please post when you plan on doing some work out there. Also are there any plans yet for south of the old tracks?

I live in rochester, but I always try to make it up to milaca at least a couple of times a summer. Last fall the trail was in the best shape I had ever seen it in. Thanks to everyone who puts time in up there it's definately appreciated.

I did ride it last fall adn that is what got me hooked on the trail again. I have been riding up there since the trail was new and the mayor of milaca would come out and ride on his cannondale, at the time the trail was the most diffucult around.
I remember hearing about a year ago of some plans for houses on sky hill, anyone have any new info on this??? Hopefully it fell through!! Anyways waiting for it to dry out and come up with some tools and do a little maintenance.

Mark, I haven't heard anything lately. Given the current economy and houses for sale everywhere around here I doubt it will go for a while. Beautiful snow today is really helping the trails out. I can't wait get in some night riding again out there. That's pretty freaky out in the bog but a great time.

I don't know why anyone would want to live there. It's overlooking a sewage pond. I've caught some funky smells up there from time to time.

I rode up there about a week ago. The trail has many trees down, and back in the woods there was way too much mud. If I had known, I wouldn't have even gone in there. I skipped the bogmonster all together because of how wet it was. Having said that, this trail is a real gem, and worth a trip. Once it dries out, Milaca is EPIC....

I rode it on Saturday- we didn't do the bogmonster loop, but everything else. There were a few wet spots- I wouldn't wear my favorite whites- but overall in great shape for riding. Awesome trail! Don't forget the deet!
