Is there any online resources or other resources that can give an idea/indication of when to replace particular parts on a bike besides the obvious when they are failing? Specifically at this point in time I'm recall my LBS saying that my rear cassette needed replacement but I can't remember for sure and rather than haul it down there just to ask them since I want to start attempting the wrenching myself I thought I'd find out online but can't find anything on when to replace only the how to replace.
I'd also rather not take it all apart to take it down there if doesn't need to be replaced. Figured I'd try to be proactive on anticipating what needs to be replaced.
