I just ordered 8 orienteering maps for the Minnesota Orienteering Clubs permanent course at Theodore Wirth. Since the MTB trail is closed this might a be a great opportunity to check out what else the area has to offer and give orienteering a try or brush up those old skills you learned in elementary school.

The course is around the Flower garden and quaking bog area and it is a fun course. If you haven't explored the area much this is a great opportunity.

All you need is a compass and some legs. Could either be a race or just a learning thing or both. We can do teams or have a couple races for those wanting to do solo categories.

Orienteering is also the basic foundation of adventure racing. If you want to put a team together and compete in any of the Wild Adventure Races, MNOC races or others this is a good place to start. For those of you who haven't done this before I can get some folks out to give some instruction on orienteering.

I'll try and find a date that works with other events going on around town.

Level of interest?

I don't have a compass or any experience but have wanted to learn. I would love to tag along with someone for the learning experience and the fun one day.

When I was stationed in Korea, I got to help set up a land navagation course. It was alot of fun to set up and run.

I wouldnt mind doing something like this. Post up when you get a date settled.

I'll get a date set. BTW- because its in the quaking bog and flower garden area these will not be allowed.

I'm interested in doing this. Haven't used a map or compass since my Scouts days.

Any word on a date yet? I'm looking forward to getting lost for a few hours on the premise of finding my way. Or better yet, can I just sign up my wife and kids?

All are invited. Having a count might be nice so I know if I need to order more maps.
