Hello MORC.
My name is Tim Krueger, and I am the new trail steward for the Cable cluster of CAMBA trails, as well as I sit on the Board of Directors for the trail system.
A recent survey found that 47 percent of our trail users originate from the Twin Cities area.
I am just opening a thread here to ask all of you what your opinions of CAMBA trails are, and especially of the Cable cluster, as I will be taking care of it. Let me know both positive and constructive comments, it will help us improve the trails and guide us as we build another 9+ miles of singletrack this summer.

Greetings! I enjoy the trails around Telemark; the Fat Tire Fest is awesome. I'm from Washburn and typically ride up there more. It's probably not in your jurisdiction, but creating some singletrack in the Valhalla area would be huge. Easy for me to say, however.
I go up there about 3 times a year. The trails are great and are getting better all the time.
Tim, we are getting a group together to ride up there May 17th. Please feel free to join us! http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25222

That will be the Off-Road Classic weekend, so we will have 18 and 23 mile races on Saturday. I would be happy to "guide" you around on Friday and Sunday.
To find me, stop by New Moon Bike Shop in Hayward, I am the lead mechanic there.

Tim,
We love CAMBA trails! I love the emergence of the singletrack in your systems! I've been going up your way a couple times a year for like 15 years. I've noticed a huge increase in riders at trailheads where new singletrack has been built. Some of these trailheads were usually near empty and now there are good crowds of bikers. As far as the Cable cluster go, it's my third favorite. I like the Ojibwe trail, but I never seem to get to it. I seem to be spending my time first at the Rock Lake/Namekogan trails and secondly at the new Hatchery Creek trailhead. Ojibwe is my third favorite. Basically I only ride your singletrack trails for the most part. I end up at the Rock Lake and Hatchery Creek due to the singletrack. Maybe there is more singletrack at the Cable Cluster I need to check out.
Basically, if you build singletrack, I will ride it!
I am so impressed with the new singletrack that has been built the past few years in the CAMBA system. I believe you have the best singletrack system in the upper midwest! Anyway, thank for all the hard work! We love your trails!
P.S. I noticed you are adding 9 miles of singletrack this summer. That is what will get me to ride the Cable Cluster more. I can't wait to see your new singletrack! Also, I'll start calling Hatchery Creek the Makwa trail. Where does the new name come from?
Like Ryan I have been riding your area for about 15 years too, and it is great (read: REALLY REALLY GREAT!!!) to see the trails get better and better, and the increase in singletrack and mileage alone is worth it for anyone to get up there and check it out if you haven't been for awhile.
You guys do a great job and I wouldn't change a thing...did you say 9 more miles...:D

I've seriously thought about moving to the area just to be able to ride those trails on a regular basis!!!

Cadillac of trails IMHO. Got something for everyone. I like the fact that you don't have to do singletrack, you have options for longer, doubletrack and fireroads all tied together. I even like doing some of the Delta and Drummond rides which see less action.
The whole system in terms of vastness and selection has no equal around these parts. The planning, organization, and execution all are great.
Great work and I will continue to support CAMBA and use the trails and I actually got into Fat Tire this year so I'm going to get my fill:banana:
New Moon does a nice job as well, helped us out on a few situations, i.e. needing a rental or a quick look at a problem.

They are some of the best trails in the region. I love the naturalness of it. It's probably because you just don't get the sheer numbers of riders we get on our trails here in the Metro.
For XC singletrack, it's a dream! I have no complaints about any part of it.
The only advice I have is that it would be nice to see some technical features out there. Not in the existing trails, but added as a side option or play area. Skinnies, teeters, jumps, and other features that are becoming more and more popular with the new generation of freeriders we are gaining, many who cross over to XC like myself. In the North West, most of the really good single track have areas or side options for such features. It nice to have a mix and a choice. That's my freeride plug for the day.....:)

He works at "New Moon" bike shop when I talked to him last Summer. He attended the "1st NAG-Not A Gathering" events when Gary Lake organized them. Gnomefest has now replaced this and is at the 2nd best trail this year, Levis-Trow.
The updates to the trail would be more technical sections, ie. stunts, which I am suprised to see Shad and I agree on something, haha.
Also trails next to lakes with decent campgrounds which would include similar bathrooms like at Namekagon campgrounds but with lights and SHOWERS would be AWESOME.
Tim, you gotta come ride with us this May and whenever the next trip is planned.

Yup, that is me. An original NAG-er. Havent dont Gnome though.
Stunts are a possibility, but the general idea we follow is to make things rideable for most, so bridges and ladders and such tend not to fit in here.
As for campgrounds, I completely agree, but those are out of our reach. the National Forest is in charge of those.
I am pretty free in May. Where are you riding? My wife-to-be is off and away for the month to prep for the wedding, so I am here all alone and ready to ride.

It's good to hear from you. I appreciate all the work that has gone into the CAMBA system...and continues. thanks
I hope to get up there a couple times this year.
I rode your area in the early to mid 90s. After moving home to the Black Hills I am jonesing to get back to your area. I hope our trails will be as well mapped as your down the road!

I love that about the CAMBA trails. Great trail signage and great maps!
I'm going to be in the Black Hills over July 4th for a few days and hope I can try a couple of your trails. If I end up riding, which trails should I try to hit? I'm generally an average cross country rider.

Cool, thanks!
I've been on your site and I can see it is new and under construction. I look forward to your trail descriptions when it gets done. Looks like you guys have a good start though and sounds like a lot of momentum out there.
