Quick question...

Can you powder coat heat tempered aluminum? Reason I am asking is I was planning on powder coating my prophet since I screwed up my paint job and I am a little leery of running it through a powder coat oven that runs at a standard 400 degrees.

Will that affect the aluminum at all, some say it will weaken it others say it won't affect it that much if at all. Does anyone know or has anyone powder coated anything aluminum and does it have an adverse affect on the metal?

Thanks in advance.

Email a place like Spectrum Powdercoating. They are an authority on powder coating bikes.

Got the skinny from Cannondale. Looks like it is doable, just have to keep the temp under 400 degrees and no longer than 20 minutes. I am going to see if they can cook it at a lower temp and for a longer period of time to compensate. Oh did I mention if you paint your bike it voids the warranty.

in case anyone else out there is thinking about repainting their ride.

Thanks Scott.
