I am really needing a trip out of town this weekend, can anyone tell me where I can go ride this weekend within tenish hours of rochester? It's only going to be a three day, so that rules out any try warm destinations like moab or anywhere in arizona. Any help?

Rays Indoor park in Ohio. That'd be in that 10-12hr range I think.

I am leaning towards the womble in arkansas. weather.com has them expecting lower 60's for this weekend, which sounds great to me. Now I just need to find the trail conditions. I assume they should be alright, but I don't want to drive that far and find out I can't ride.

my own opinion
rays=not worth the drive, both time and cost in gas. It's a fun place, but not really worth such a hefty trip. I say, if you're going to drive, drive to where you can ride outside!

What's the temp down in Missouri right now? I've heard good reviews about the Berryman trail. Former Morc member Bill Hall now lives down there somewhere I do believe.

I would think conditions, south and east, would be much worse than we have here. They've been pounded by snow and rain this year. I'd certainly call some shops near any possible destinations. South Dakota might be dry.

We trailered motorcycles down to AK in April about 5 years ago. We were also anticipating temps in the lower 60's or high 50's. Ended up riding in high 30's and low 40's. Still had a good time though as it was pretty crappy here in MN when we left.
Have fun whereever you end up!!

Rapid City is supposed to be having great weather right now. I don't know what the weekend looks like, but they hit 65 today, and it's supposed to be nicer tomorrow. Of course up into the hills might be a little cooler, but they haven't had too much snow this year either.

MO is a muddy/snowy mess right now.

Wishful thinking Ben, got a month til they'll be ready bub. That is if it doesn't rain or snow again. But props to you for being an optimist :)

A couple buddies and I rode Womble and other area trails Feb 22 thru 25. It was a 13.5-14 hour drive leaving from Freewheel Bike in Minneapolis. I liked Big Brushy and Earthquake Ridge in addition to Womble. The Trail conditions were great, not frozen or muddy a couple of weeks ago. There were a lot of COLD stream crossing though.
Hot Springs is about an hour away, but worth the drive if you're interested. We camped at Fulton Branch Float camp about 6 miles east of Mt Ida. It was deserted... The trails are in a "dry" county, so bring your own beer if you're in to that sort of thing. The next county over does have liquor stores, but by that time you're almost in Hot Springs.

wouldn't rapid city have the issues that we have with the frost coming out of the ground? That is tha\e advantage of southern trails no frostline to hold the moisture up

i rode the womble on february 17 and 18, right after a big rain. other than having to cross some small streams, the riding was great. the trail is either rocks or hardpack and drains very quickly. great trail to by the way.

I'm guessing you meant Arkansas... not Alaska.

I've been monitoring the situation in Lawrence, Kansas, and the bike club there says the trails are open. Unfortunately it looks like it's going to be wet there for the next few days. Lawrence, KS is probably only a 7-8 hour drive. I have a cousin that lives there, and he will be keeping me posted. I intend to cruise down for a long weekend soon, if I can work it out. Appears to be plenty of trail. And a college town to boot, UK is there.
