cool article about SRAM. http://www.businessweek.com/smallbiz/content/feb2008/sb20080229_583446.htm?chan=smallbiz_smallbiz+index +page_small+business+success+stories

Makes me dislike Shimano even more.

What pieces are left for them to pick up before they can come out with a 100% SRAM bike? Wheelsets and tires, then source some frames with the SRAm logo or buy somebody out.....

Good article. It's nice to see a growing American manufacturing company now and then. I'm in the process of migrating over to SRAM whenever feasible.

My only question is the claim that they invented bar end shifters. Pretty sure I was using Suntour pinky shifters many years before 1987. They existed back in the seventies. In fact, I'm pretty sure I upgraded to Suntour indexed bar-end shifters around 1987.

It's also a shame that Suntour wasn't mentioned. Although they were a Japanese company, they made nice components at a decent price.

Nice read.

I was kind of wondering about the lack of a Suntour mention as well.

They invented bar-end twist shifters. Not paddle shifters.

Sram's first product was a twist shifter meant to be mounted on the end of a road bar, or aero bars. They sucked, big time. Anyone who's had the (dis)pleasure of working on them should agree.
