Yay the snow is finally melting, or at least the little that we had. It was nice to be able to do some winter riding but not as fun as going through the dirt trails. It will be a while but there is tons of urban stuff to be molested:banana: until the trails will be rideable. Yay for warmer weather and puddles to drive through with my car!!! Cant wait to go out and not have 8 layers on, also to get a little tan going so I dont burn so bad in summer.

YEAH! I saw snow melting yesterday, but haven't noticed it yet today. I think the most layers I have had on this summer was 3. And all were wet. I was out of town for the two weeks of really cold weather, but have been riding several times in single digits. Looking forward to all these urban rides I have been hearing about. and, being able to wash my bike. finally!

Theres' still a few days of nice winter snow riding to be had. Saundra, you missed a fun ride last night.
Remember, just because the snow is melting doesn't mean that you get to ride in the dirt. First, the ground has to thaw completely, then the moisture has to work its way down or evaporate. This takes a long time. The U of M has a web site showing frost lines. (I don't have the link) Even though the surface is nice and warm, there will be a layer of frost a foot or so below the surface, that prevents moisture from passing and prevents us from trail riding.
Sorry for the lecture. I'm also looking forward getting rid of a couple layers of long johns and riding in the dirt. Bring on the heat!

And if one read and didn't skim one would see that was actually stated.

I, for one, cannot wait for heat. I love heat. No more toe warmers between sock layers! Woo Hoo! No more frozen hydration pack tubes!:crazy2: I'm fine with the ice being gone: studs have too much rolling resistance.
Here's to bakin' in the sun, and riding on dirt again!:jumpy:
Although, I'm not real crazy about having to mow again...

It's still going to be pretty darn cold tomorrow. But by the way next week is looking, we won't have much snow left by the end of it.
We will be doing the traditional MORC urban mountain bike rides soon. Maybe this year mara and I can actually do an MTB SS Century. We made 92 miles once....then it got dark on us and we didn't have lights....:cryin:

Travis, I have only been on one of these, but I am thinking just like dirt riding, all obstacles have a go around option.

Mostly paved trails. We are talking more of a....hey let's get out and ride so when the dirt is dry.....we are not coughing up a lung...:)
We are not talking freeride here, but some of us have been known do still do some obstacles on the way to and from.

Just as long as they don't look like this.
