Looking to take a trip to the trails around Cable this summer. Looking for people to go with I have a camper that Holds 4-6. Thinking around late June early July. Would be great to have some company.

A gathering at Lake Namakegon would be fun!

I'm in, was just getting ready to post something about trying to plan a trip.
We'll be heading up there in mid May before those nasty black flies come out. I'm so ready for spring warmth and sun and riding. Thanks for reminding me!

I am going up there on the weekend of May 16-18 for an annual spring mountain bike weekend. Been going up on the same weekend since 1993. If youi wait until June the mosquitoes get really bad.
I plan to be up there May 15th-18th. Like Bob I go every year in May except for the one year I went to Levis instead. Sorry Cable.

I will probably be up there the same weekend in May also. No bugs, nice weather, and no people! It's great! Although last May for some reason we had like 10 degree windchills. Kind of odd.

Since it sounds like enough people are interested in the May 16-18 weekend, can we make an official, but not MORC-endorsed, thread for this trip? I'd love to head out there that weekend, too, so maybe we can get a few more? I realize that goes against the "and no people" idea in RynoLite's posting, but...the more the merrier, IMHO. :)
Cable = awesome!!
I agree with the Lake Namakegon idea, too. My birthday's a couple weeks before that, but I'd be happy to extend the celebration, and label this "Kitty Fest 2008."

Hmmm....looking like mid May might be a date.
Time to start looking at our calendar....:)
I should move this to group rides if it goes that direction. Or someone can repost a trip date there if they get one planned.
I like Two Lakes better than Namakogen for camping. Although there's always the Loon Saloon and the awesome pizza they have there on the way back to Namakogen.

I would be interested in going mid-May. I graduate on the 15th so it would be a great way to celebrate!

Oooh, I want to do this as well. I love the Cable area trails. My friend has a cabin about a half-block from the Loon saloon. Many post-ride pizzas at that place! In fact, I'm going up to the Cabin in about 3 hours..nice!

It has been nice to have the race the same weekend so those who want to race can do that. The race has never interferred with other riding as there are a lot of miles of trails. The race is rather small so unlike the 40 there isn't a problem with lodging.

That sounds like a lot of fun. If it is the weekend of the 17th, I might actually be able to go to something for once. Having a wife that works every other weekend REALLY kills a lot of opportunities since I have the kids. I have a camper as well that can sleep 4 if no one shares beds, otherwise we could fit 7 in there comfortably.

Just hope that the campground that you choose is open so there isn't the problem like we had in fall. It would be a nice area to go to again, will have to check my calander. I would love to hit the Hatchery again on the way home thats a good trail too. I know that there are a lot of birthdays around the end of May, like mine, so could incorpotate into a general B-day ride.
I posted a group ride for May to Cable around this date and have listed the two campgrounds that are open there with some info.
I don't know yet if I can make that date, but there sure are enough people that are interested in that weekend. Mid May is really beautiful, the leaves are starting to bud out and they have these little red casings which almost looks like Fall colors in a way. Its still cool weather at night, but during the day its awesome, especially since the leaves haven't darkened up the forest yet. The closer you get to June the mosquitos start to become a real hassle, unless you have one of those nice screened in-type of cooking areas (which I swear I am going to get this year).
Anyway, take a look at your calendars. It would be a wonderful way to celebrate Jodi's graduation and April's birthday!

Hey, if anyone is interested, I have a cabin available for rent up there this summer. Right off of Telemark road. Hop on the Esker trail directly behind the house. I purchased it because it is so great to go there to ride.

Charly,
What are your weekend rates? We usually are up there the weekend before Memorial Day and the second weekend in October.

This sounds great! I have a cabin on Namekagon, and I'll probably be up there around this time anyway. I can't pass up riding some trails in the Chequamegon, followed with Kraut pizzas at the Loon! :)
