The great thing about this bike is you never have to wipe your ass if you plan on riding soon.:jumpy:

its very interesting to watch...ive seen it only on tv never in person, it is cool to watch though...takes talent for sure
I know next to nothing about trials, so excuse what may be a dumb question. But why hydraulic rim brakes on the rear? I see that on a lot of trials bikes and don't understand why not disk front and rear?

I wont pretend to know much either but from what ive seen...picture them bouncing on only the rear wheel from one obsticlet o another, Hydro brakes must hold better when squeezed (just my guess)

The only events that I'm aware of are put on by Rudy and Peter during the Mont du Lac and Spirit Mtn xc races. Then maybe a couple of demos but nothing too significant.

Its actually quite easy, just like riding a bike(just dont sit down)... :crazy2:

Its a bit of personal prefrence. I like the hydo on the rear due to it it being up and out of the way (they also provide a tremendous amount of power). The rear rim is also ground up to make it much more abrasive and the pads grab better.

Hasn't there been a trials demo area in mpls during the Nature Valley Grand Prix?

I think they try to bring in some bigger name for it. So, its a little restricted for who can actually ride durning it.
I like the biggie version myself,

Eric,
Google Ryan Leech, he is by far the best trials rider on the planet. I think Norco is his sponsor still. He is by far the best and most enjoyable trials rider to watch out there.

Leech is a very good rider, but there are some other crazies out there too:

It gets in the way. You can really squeeze the bike under you with nothing there to stop it. We dont really ride for distance, moreso; over terrain.
Leech is a good show man not a World trials guy though.
Kenny Balaey on the other hand,....

That's crazy!
There is a motocross trials "track" at the Iron Range ORV near Gilbert.
do you actually ride mototrials??
Yes,....badly.:hit:
Wish I would have started Trials instead of MX when I did, I could have become a good rider, sadly I listened to others about what was fun and followed the heard.

Yea, those guys are always doing some good riding. So, anyone intersted in meeting up this summer and doing some riding?? Josh, definitly need to find some time to get a ride going. Missed too much this past summer with work and all the other stuff I had going on.
If anybody is interested in finding out more about trials or would like to see it in person and try it their self let Dave or myself know.
The balance of trials is a learned skill. We all started out the same as everyone else.

Not that I am even a good rider, but a lot can be learned going no where on a bike.
The nice thing about trials is you can really start out on about any hardtail mountain bike and get the fundamentals down.
I have never attended a comp but would like to see one first hand.

I think there are plenty of people who can actually ride more difficult terrain than they really give themselves credit for. I would love to see more people show up at a comp and see what they can do. There are different catagories just for that reason. People just need to venture a little out of the 'comfort zone' and see what they are really capable of.

Are there any comps in the MN area?
I hold two per year up in the Duluth area. We would love to see new faces. We also try to get a large group together once a month or so throughout the state. Anybody is welcome to come and partake in the fun. Smaller rides are held on a more regular basis.

One of the events in in the NATS series which highly recommends UCI. Teh other one has been a mixture of BIU and UCI depending on class.

It is always fun to see new people try the sport and even more fun when they stick with it.
Here are some pictures from group rides we have had around Duluth.
