he must be thinking Pug and this is just the scape goat to back out if he should decide differently....Pug is a 29er.....think about it....and a tall bike (inset clown music here.)...but not a 2 story bike.

Oh good. For a minute I thought you had drunk of the Kool-Aid and fell for the marketing...... ;)

Nice ride Dan. I finally got out on mine this weekend and I forgot how much fun it is to bash around through the slop and snow on 700C's.

What would make you think that's the bike?

I guess I could see a cycle cross bike, it would be very different than the bikes you have (so would a Pug's, but limited uses)..

I have to admit I thought about it a couple of times - would be great for commuting on and the our spring urban rides..

If you're going to do 700c proper at least get something that has clearance for big tires down the road once the cache/newness of the bike begins to depreciate with everything little pebble and crack in the pavement numbing your senses...

The only problem with road bikes is that they're road bikes (yes, I'm calling CX bikes road bikes).

Nope the voice of being afraid to ride anything less than a 2.3 in the dirt. :D

What he says sort-of makes sense. In other words, buy a Karate Monkey rather than a Cross Check. Then you can run either skinny or fat tires, and beat the peepee out the bike without it crying.

The KM is a versatile bike, and would make a fine CX, unless you are a weight weenie that doesn't wear underwear.

And a 29'r is just an overgrown CX bike, so.... :D

I can promise you that the CX is the only way I am going to get a bike that has bigger wheels on it.

We don't want promises. We want action. Make it so.

You're going to be disappointed to know that you must wear a lycra kit to ride a CX bike and Oakley doesn't make one.

If you think riding a rigid singlespeed is fun on singletrack try it on a CX bike. My CX will get plenty of time on the trails this summer.

My Cross-Check has plenty of room for bigger tires....:)

I ordered my new shorts, lucky for me and everyone else I don't need to wear a jersey with these.
