No ...a friend of mine does banners, stickers, t-shirts, pretty much anything we want. He is also the one I had design up some new stickers for MORC and have a couple on my car, I also had him do a heat press MORC logo for a mechanic shirt that I wear. Hes local, cheap and a good guy. I had him do these stickers and he did them the same day I talked to him. They are awaiting my pick up.

Lezgo_Cycling, you should not be selling these. This is plain and simple copyright infringement.
Moderators? Do you have anything to say about this illegal sale going on on your board?
Johny5 over at zero per gallon dot com (http://zeropergallon.com) is a stand up guy. He sponsors local races at the drop of a hat.
If you go to his site you can buy stickers and patches for the exact same price that Gus trying to sell them at.
Also I have let Johny know what you are doing so don't be surprised if you he contacts you.
Plain and simple wrong. You should be ashamed of your self.

No Longer For Sale, as it has been pointed out theres is a guy johnny 5 in SF that has a website dedicated to this...read earlier post for link. I have contacted him and straightened this all out. Please go there...
Now for the explanation: This was something I saw online through an unanmed website and was pointed in the direction of someone else who was doing this same sort of idea but not producing anymore. I took it upon myslef to find a printer and have some made. They have since been destroyed...and for those that posted and pm'd with extreme anger...F u maybe you should find out the facts before you go off the handle. This was done in oure fun and was not meant to hurt anyone. Next time ask me before you go all ape****

Seems like someone is always bit$chin at someone on these forums and it is really getting old. Is MORC really becoming like this? First people are getting crucified for a stupid jersey slogan, people are crying sexism and now Gus is getting killed because he may have made a perfectly honest mistake. I have heard from a couple people now that they are pulling away from this originization because of all of the BS on the forums. I am beginning to agree with people. It isn't even fun to come out here and try to take part in this, because you never know when your post is going to be next, as I am sure this one will be...

I will say it though, I am one pulling away..this is getting old and it reminds me of the first time I stepped away from the organization...this will be the third time in 8 yrs though. It is very sad

I did look at the site and I didn't see anything even relented to any sort of a copy right statement. There is a legal thing but it is a flith ridden thing with nothing that really made any sense. And if his stuff was copy written he should have been smart enough to put the copy write thing on his gear.

Oh the drama, it really must be the dead of winter.
But to clarify you don't need to always put a copyright stamp on something to have it be copyrighted.

Why not make one that's 00.00 8/10?
Just kidding, couldn't help myself didn't mean to pile on, just trying to add some levity to a tense situation.
BTW I stole that from The Simpsons and Donny's Discount Gas.

...and while I'm at it, I just want you guys to know that I had a bunch of MORC jerseys and shirts made up (after seeing something on a totally unrelated website) and I'm selling them for $70 each - cause you know, I've got to recoup what I paid the printer to have them made up... :eyeroll:

Here's the deal, being in advertising and all that. If there is something out there on the internet and it doesn't say copyright at the bottom of the page it is placed on or at least on the homepage it is free reign. The person with the idea or artwork should have known better and if it was so precious to them they should have done their homework and at least stuck a copyright mark there.
Yes, it is in bad taste to steal an image. Being an artist I can sympathize. But as I see it Gus did his research and could not find anything relating to the image or idea until afterward. He made an effort to make good with the owner so he did good in my book. An honest mistake humans make those. No harm no foul.
Sven, lighten up a bit Bubby.

Sorry Dan but you need to study up on your copyright law facts.
Just to set everyone straight:
What Works Are Protected?
Copyright protects “original works of authorship” that are fixed in a tangible form of expression. The fixation need not be directly perceptible so long as it may be communicated with the aid of a machine or device. Copyrightable works include the following categories:
literary works;
musical works, including any accompanying words
dramatic works, including any accompanying music
pantomimes and choreographic works
pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works
motion pictures and other audiovisual works
sound recordings
architectural worksThese categories should be viewed broadly. For example, computer programs and most “compilations” may be registered as “literary works”; maps and architectural plans may be registered as “pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works.”
Notice of Copyright
The use of a copyright notice is no longer required under U.S. law, although it is often beneficial. Because prior law did contain such a requirement, however, the use of notice is still relevant to the copyright status of older works.
Notice was required under the 1976 Copyright Act. This requirement was eliminated when the United States adhered to the Berne Convention, effective March 1, 1989. Although works published without notice before that date could have entered the public domain in the United States, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) restores copyright in certain foreign works originally published without notice. For further information about copyright amendments in the URAA, request Circular 38b (http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ38b.pdf).
Not to bash to much on Gus but if I found some guy selling my photos for a profit, excuse or not, I'd be a bit pissed and the same would go for anything created by my friends as well. Sounds like Gus has apologized to the guy for this and has stopped selling them.

Yeah, but the dude should have placed the copyright mark on his stuff. I know I place it on everything of mine just to be safe as do you Scott. It avoids the problem altogether. Also, your post does not mention anything about placement of a watermark or copyright notation it simply states what forms are protected.
Doesn't matter, all is good for Gus.

Agree...I've been silent too long on the subject of flaming posts and I have to say...if we want to promote this organization to non-members as a great place to be we need to avoid it. There's waaay too much of it going on. Let's keep our eye on the goals of MORC folks!
