I know there are a couple tri people here. Just wondering what everyones racing plan is for 2008. Last year I ran my first half, and this year I plan on "going long"

My current calender is:
Land Between the Lakes - Sprint - 5/18
Buffalo Tri - Oly - 6/1
Liberty Tri - Half - 6/14
Lifetimes Fitness - Oly - 7/12
Chisago Lakes - Half - 7/27
Ironman Loiusville - Full - 8/31

Anyone else planning on running any of these races?

Lastyear i did my first ever. Waconia.

This year I'm looking for a return to Waconia and also, square lake.

My first passion is mountain biking though. Do you have time for any Mountian Bike races?

I need to get going on these. Maybe this year will be the year. Someone needs to push me into the fire.

I was thinking about doing the Croixathlon in Hudson, WI. 1/3 mile swim, 13 mile bike, and 3 mile run. The idea of an open water swim freaks me out since I'm not a great swimmer but I think I could do 1/3 mile.

It's the week after Grandmas so that may be a deterrent as well.

Since this is a mountain biking forum, there are a few mountain bike, canoe, and trail running triathlons. the first and longest is the chippewa triathlon, a 15 mile paddle, 30 mile mountain bike, 7 mile run on June 8th (?) Web site http://www.paulbunyan.net/users/bjiski/triathlon/. The next race if that length is a bit long is the City of Lakes Tri-Loppet will probably be June 28. http://www.tri-loppet.com/. In October, Three rivers puts on a triathlon at Lake Rebeca. Its a very short canoe, 2 laps of the bike course, and a 4.5 mile run on the snowmobile trails and gravel roads. Kettercanoeing.com has had a few others also. They are all fun.

Square lake is a great course, I did the long course last year. It was a LOT hiller than I expected, then throw in some stiff winds - but what an experience. The lake is so clean, and the run/bike course is a ton of fun.

No mountain bike races for me, hopefully next year (2009), I want to try some Xtera (or similar).

Any idea if they're going to bring back the "Fat Tire Tri"?

So far I'm signed up for:

05.10.2008: Oakdale Spring Classic Duathlon
09.06.2008: Square Lake Triathlon

I am going to try and fit in 2 more somewhere in the summer.
