Whats up Josh? Nice choice on the Moto Rapido. I rode one for two years. I gotta say. Its a hot little whip. Very fast, and stiff. It was my first frame with scandium tubing. Very nice.

It's not SS, but it is DJ.
Which means Josh no longer has an excuse when it comes time the shred on the BIG mounds!

Actually I was talking to some people in the industry and they said that FS's were on a decline, especially in freeriding. I guess riders have started to progress a lot more and become more like BMXers as far as riding style and prefer riding hardtails. The big trend is hardtail dirt jump style bikes (might have a suspension fork) and slopestyle bikes. The slopestyle FS bikes are much lower travel than the bigger 7 - 8 inch freeride bikes we are used to.
Most places in the country don't require 7 and 8 inch travel bikes. Some downhill courses (downhill bikes will probably always have big travel) require a big FS, but most places you don't need much or any suspension.
This is just what I heard from some of the industry folks........but ya know....they are not always accurate, so take it with a grain of salt....:)

I believe the key word here is 'trend'. Also, slopestyle doesn't require as much travel because they have pretty smooth lines and drops with smooth transitions. Even so, most of them are still 5-6"
I'd also say that if you're on a DH course that doesn't need at least 6+ inches of travel you're probably in, well, minnesota.. :D

You never "need" 6+ in. of travel
You never "need" 6+ in. of travel
Need? That is questionable. Sure is nice though. (Nope, I'm taking the photo)

Nope I still want a 4 inch travel race bike built, probably, El Santo and a 6 inch all mountain bike, a 4 to 5 inch slopestyle bike and a downhill bike!!! Big list but gotta start somehwere.

Odd way to mount a HS on the Salsa.
Good eye for detail but thats how I swing, I put a king on top of the steer tube above the frame instead of a stem, saves weight, don;t ya know...lol
