Bikeball (http://bikeball.com/) ...does anyone here play or know someone who plays...I tried to login to the forums and there is an error on the page, it wont let me sign up. Does it exist anymore ? I can imagine they quit playing, they have been playing by the lakes for many years.

I know some people who play bike polo. Usually a parking lot type thing with clubs/mallets more like polo clubs/mallets than what the ones on bike polo show (baseball bats?).

I've also been thinking a bit of ice bike polo could be fun.

They have a year-round Sunday bike polo game down in Bellevue, NE at Swanson.

Went and played once and it was a lot of fun.

I do know that there is a league of teams that play over near the lakes up here.

Contact Shawn Sheely for info as I think he played for a number of years.

Are you crazy :crazy2: it looks hard enough on the grass, on the ice would just be nuts :D but if you do it ill make some studded tires and give it a shot. Im in the process of building a beat the snot out of it bike...fully rigid polo / ice bike / borrower / whatever else hapens to come along

Get some studded tires made up for it. You will not be dissapointed. And there will be opportunities to use them.

Is that the chilly chili? Or another ice race?

There are also various smaller ice races around town throughout the winter that are a good time.

I think I even heard mention of the possibility of an ice race series???????

"Mario" has played for 15 years with that group. I played with them last summer. Just show up. They play Thursday nights by lake Calhoun.

Gus, games are still on Thursdays as they have been for 20 years, i have been playing for 15 or so.

The web site isn't really being maintained, our admin Dr. Diablo moved to Colorado.

The season follows daylight savings time so next March will be startup.

our "home" field is near the executive center on Calhoun, although we frequently have to move due to kickball, lacrosse, etc.

new players are welcome, all you need is a bike on which you don't mind bending rims, deraillers, etc.. Single speeds are ideal. Bringing beer for afterwards is also a huge plus:D(extra points for homebrew). Buying the 1st round at a nearby establishment is a double huge plus:jumpy:

our version of the game uses plastic Official Wiffle Ball Bats (long skinny yellow ones you probably played with as a kid).

other leagues use actual mallets and tend to be more formal.

all of the "rules" are on the site you mentioned, www.bikeball.com (http://www.bikeball.com)

check it out next year. I'll be there, Mario is my handle and I'll be the one scoring all the goals:laugh:
