About a week ago Saundra and I made a set of studded tires for our bikes. Pretty much followed the wiki http://www.morcmtb.org/wiki/index.php/Tire_studding
I've done a little riding on them but not on the ice or hard pack yet. They don't work too well on smooth dry concrete... ask Saundra how she found out :D:hit: . Can't wait for the hard pack to try them out!

Nice job! I would stay off of the concrete since it will wear the studs out quickly. Home made studs are for snow/ice use only.

You get a C- on the build since there are no empty beer bottles in the background of the pics.:p

Too funny.

There's nothing funny about it Matt. This is serious. It's downright unhealthy to not properly hydrate during shop time. ;)

Ok.. so answer the question....
What is that Snail on the bench out of or what is it going in to?

It's not so much the hydration, but more the lubrication. Yes, machinery needs proper lubrication, but just as important is the mechanics lubrication. Without it, the machine might work flawlessly, then how is one supposed to retreat to the workshop to "fix" something when the heat is on?
Seriously folks, let's make sure both machine and man are properly lubed every time we work on something.

You guys are right.. I failed. No empties in the background.. There is always next time I guess.:beerme:
Turbo is from my Rx-7. I have it all taken apart because an apex seal decided to go through the turbo a couple months back :banghead:

It looks good to me. How well do the studs work.

Not really sure yet, haven't had them on hard pack or ice yet.

Depending on a couple things I might make it out there tonight. It's been a while since I've ridden a trail, getting the itch pretty bad.

Cam,
Is that a rotary or and inline 4?
I am not to knowledgeable about the old Mazda Products....
My tastes tend to run to the turbo four rings products

The studs work great on hard-packed snow and on ice. Ponds are fun when you know there is enough ice to support you. Going through somewhat deep snow on pavement is fun. I will hit the trails sometime soon, probably start on the riverbottoms if it is packed at all.
Studdette can throw sparks in the parking garage! Unfortuantly, I got a stud down the knee and a little road rash:hit: Oh well, it was still fun:jumpy:
