A message for everyone who enjoys mountain biking, especially on trails built and maintained by MORC:
Shopping this time of year, as a rule, sucks. The stores are crowded, the roads are a mess, time is short and Christmas music is all but inescapable. The lure of knocking off your list from top to bottom by shopping online is strong, especially if your list happens to include bike stuff.
But I'm here to tell you that you owe it to yourself to shop locally – specifically from from your local bike shop.
Why? I'm glad you asked.
As much as MORC relies on contributions from individual members (like you, hopefully), local bike shops are just as important. Apart from providing bikes, gear and maintenance to the local riding community, they also support MORC through sponsorship of races and events (like the 24 Hours of Afton, Spring Cup and the Minnesota Mountain Bike Summit), advertising in our newsletter, and signing on as MORC Sponsors.
These folks are as committed to the success of Minnesota mountain biking as anyone in MORC, and their support is essential in building and maintaining the trails we ride.
If you love your local trails, then show MORC sponsors (http://www.morcmtb.org/morcpages/sponsors.htm) and other local bike shops some love this holiday season, and for the rest of the year as well.
