Has anyone taken a look at the new KONA Coilair design???
Kona who has been using there same trusted design for years looks to have improved there simplistic design into something that might be worth checking out.

I would assume it will have a very progressive spring rate feel to it.
Wondering what the thing sticking off the rear wheel in the image is? Possibly Some sort of floating caliper adapter?
Also wonder what kind of chain-growth that thing has??

Sorry, my computer was acting up while trying to post the link.

The link from the caliper to the seat tube is indeed a floating caliper. I think they sell a retro fit for older models.

Wow, that looks cool as hell!
I wonder how it works in the real world, meaning, I wonder if you can feel the difference? I would think you'd have to.

Yeah...
So if I understand correct from the diagram not only does the amount of travel change on the fly, but the geometry creates its own stable pedaling platform. In doing so the geometry also adjusts automatically to what ever terrain is in front of you.
damn.
I am very curious to see how this works in real world testing. I saw it a while back but never gave it much thought until I across the thread on the new Fuel x thread.

I saw an article/field test about it in one of the mags at B&N. I'm not sure which mag it was in, but it's definitely not in MBA, Dirt Rag, or Decline.

This month's BIKE mag had an article about new linkage designs. They covered Trek's new design and Kona's Magic Link design.

"THIS PRESENTATION FOR APPROVED, INTERNAL KONA USE ONLY. DO NOT SHARE." Is that supposed to be a joke, or maybe they neglected to remove it? The design looks great in theory, the real test will be to put it into action. Looks cool.
