Something old, something new...

Thanks to those that put this schedule together...

Cat is out of the bag... White Tail Ridge is new trail in River Falls being built by Kinnikinick Off Road Cyclists (KORC) and the Route Bike Shop. I wont go into details, but it'll be worthy...

"Border Battle", hopefully we (MN riders) show better than the last time there was a WORS/ MNSCS battle in Eau Clair...

Preliminary 2008 Race Schedules

The 2008 MNSCS race schedule has been established and is pending final administrative commitments by Race Directors.
You will note some changes from 2007. Steeple - Chase will not be in the schedule in 2008 as the ski area is up for sale. Added to the schedule is the White Tail Ridge race on August 24. This will be a joint MNSCS – WORS race and booked as a "Border Battle". We worked with WORS to reduce race conflicts as much as possible.

I had pointed this out on another thread. The race at Mt Du Lac is the same weekend as Grandma's Marathon. Granted the Marathon is on Saturday, but getting to the pre-ride might be virtually impossible. I'm sure whoever did the schedule was aware of this, so hopefully there is a contingency.

I think he is talking about lodging and duluth being a zoo in general

You are right. Now that I've figured out where the heck Mont Du Lac is, it wouldn't be impossible to get there on the Saturday, but hotels and even campgrounds were very full all weekend last year during the marathon. And forget about getting into Duluth on Saturday unless you have all day to kill. Not a huge deal to me in general. I'll be camping that weekend to cheer some family on in the marathon. It would be cool to kill two birds with one stone.

I'm in love with the Spirit Mtn campground. Great facilities, nice and quiet. That and it's right at the top of the mountain right by the start of the single track.

Montdulac camping is in their parking lots and has been $5 per tent.
Spirit mtn isn't very close to montdulac.

If the Marathon is on Saturday and the bike race is on Sunday I would think the bike racers would want to stay over Saturday night and the marathoners would drive up Friday after work and go home after their race.

So, hopefully lodging won't be so bad.

I'm also glad that there is no conflict with the Lake Waconia Triathlon this year. Probably a very small crossover.:)

All the hotels in the area are already booked for both nights, for twice the normal price. Pretty much everybody stays the entire weekend. I'd plan on camping at the race site and taking the backroads home.

Is there any info on the White Tail Ridge trail system?

I have never been there myself but I know that it is about 5 miles of singletrack, and they did a tuesday night race series there last summer.

Is there any info on the White Tail Ridge trail system?

LINK TO KORC's web page (http://www.kinnioffroad.com/trails.html)

I think there will be weekly Tuesday night races there again this year. I don't think I'm out of line in saying that there is still a bit of buffing out and finishing of the trail to have it in 100% huge race ready condition. Nothing really XX level, but it's almost all intermediate level singletrack that can really be ridden fast (there are hills too).

MORC is probably the first place people go when they are looking for MN mountain biking info. All of these races ought to be put on the MORC calender.
