Just figured I'd share this, and broaden the audience to help get his asking price. . .

This has been up for a long time. He won't get CLOSE to his desired offer of $2,500-$3,000.

I think somewhere in the $800 range is appropriate.

The parts are really nice but they're older and the frame isn't particularly noteworthy.

If he paid $800 for the frame i'll gladly sell my '96 Muni-Mula for $500 and you can have the parts that are attached!

But if it's worth $2,500 to somebody all the power to him!

Actually, he should part it out. He'll get good money that way.

C'mon, it's even got a brake booster. ;)

Agreed. Parting it out, he'd probably do allright, or at least a lot better.

For $2,500-$3,000 you could get a brand new bike that would blow that one out of the water.

Which is exactly why he won't get anywhere near that...

I thought about emailing the guy a while ago but it's not my place to tell him what his price is. Perhaps this thread will get to him and he'll decide to part it out or lower his expectations.

Wouldn't it be great to get half of what you put into a car or bike?

Brutal. It's always ex-bikers who are selling their older "top of the line" bikes for WAY too much. XTR circa '00 isn't equal to XTR '07.:D You could probably get half of what you paid for a '07 XTR piece on here...but not a used '00.

someone even posted a RE: and suggested that he was asking too much (about $2200 too much), and i'm guessing the "bike nazi" post today was in response to that:

to the bike nazi:

What are you pissed about? That you cant afford a high end bike so you have to rip into peoples sales ads. Why dont you stick to shopping at a department store instead of trolling here. If you dont like the price then ignor it and move on.

He's right on that part...

But he's stupid to ignore suggestions.

I like this response:

bring the 3k Kona to the pawn shop or go pick up a $1200 new Stumpy that will smoke that Kona any day.

I sold this earlier this year for $850. I'd hate to rip on people, but that kona may bring $450 if he's lucky. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x128/newportr/Bikes/kula1.jpg

Did you get rid of it because it's too small? The seat is awfully high above the frame...

I don't know about a $1,200 Stumpy "smoking" the Kona. I have a '96 Muni-Mula and I love it. Even w/ heavier Kona/STX/LX/Curve components it is still under 26 lbs. I have no doubt that this guy's Kona is at least that light and probably lighter. I'm sure it'd be a sweet rig to ride but DEFINITELY not $2-$3k sweet...

Don't forget the $300 for the Time pedals.

Justin,

No, not for the size. The frame is a 19", I'm 6' with a 32 inseam. I just decided to go back to a full susp. rig.

I just noticed he finally dropped the price down to $1000

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bik/653480451.html (http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bik/653480451.html)

hopefully he's getting closer to a more accurate price.

Is this the same bike?

Sorry, but it really grooves me when people post things for sale on CL without doing their homework on pricing, then jack the price up because they have a lot of interest. If you want an auction, put it on fleabay. :eyeroll:

This was flagged. All I know about the Kona is that it popped up last week at $1,200, which is still AT LEASE $400 more than it should pull in. I think it's laughable that he lists the Muni-Mula frame at $800-something when I bought a '96 Muni-Mula brand-new for $800. I think his is a '97 or '98 which probably has a replaceable derailleur hanger (mine doesn't) which retailed for around $1000 as a full bike.

I've never written to the guy but I feel that after having it listed so many times he'd get the hint. There are newer bikes on CR w/ similar specs going for much cheaper.

I'm tempted to post his phone number just so everyone can call and set up meetings with him to buy the bike.

Lol. The thing is, if he really had that much interest at $1200, he should just sell it! It's not worth nearly that. Oh well...

If you search kona on CL, he has his older ad with phone number posted. You should buy it! :etard:

It didn't help that some of that "interest" was me being a jackass and contacting wanting to buy it.
