I'm building up a set of Large Marge's for a snow bike (finally!) and was planning on using Nokian Gazzaloddi 3.0s, but they are now no longer sold in the US. Anyone have any other big 3.0" tire recommendations??

Thanks.

You could always order them from abroad:

only about $87 each. ouch

Biggest I know of other than the obvious Endomorph (http://www.surlybikes.com/parts/endomorph.html)is the 2.7 WTB Timberwolfs. I believe Pete Koski built up the large marge / timberwolf combo.

I believe a friend of mine mounted one 29 x 2.55 weirwolf and a 29 x 2.3 Exiwolf, and they measured out about the same width on the same type of rim.

If you are not concerned about weight, the WTB Stout looks pretty nice for a snow tire. It even looks to have large enough lugs for studding if you want to go that far.

I think you can finally get Racing Ralph 2.4 29ers, although they are pricey. I'd like to find out a bit more about them, but they might make a nice snow tire.

Nice thing about that tire to is that it is not all that heavy for such a large tire.

True, looks like the 2.7s are hard to find though...

I have a set of Michelin DH Comp32 2.8" tires that I am looking to sell. They are wide and fit my 1x1 nicely. I had them on some Sun double wide rims.

$50 for the pair

Gus - I have passed on these, as I'm not going to be able to make it to Superior anytime soon.

Gregg, do you know if the Michelin's measure out to a true 2.8"? According to their specs, they are closer to 2.4" actual. I think...

They are quite knobby. I am out of town, but the measurements I have found are

Casing 2.46"
Tread 2.59"

These measurements seem a little small to me. Worked great on the snow last year at 10psi.
