I know that the Raleigh XXIX isn't corrected for a suspension fork but I am wondering if this, http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/FK404A02-Marzocchi+Mx+Comp+29Er+04.aspx, would fit. If it does fit, really how much of a difference to the geometry, ride, would it be? You can get it for under $100 so I thought it might be worth checking out.

Bill, the geared version of your bike uses the same frame as the SS version. The factory doesn't worry about altering the geometry when they throw a Reba on the front of the geared bike, so my opinion is you shouldn't either. Besides, for that small of a cash outlay you're not out very much if you don't care for the way the bike rides and handles after the change.

Any mechanics know if this particular fork would work...and is it a good deal?

That's only $500 more...I think you are missing the point - I have very little cash!

I have a Reba on my XXIX. Love it! Works great! You can find some closeouts or used between $150-350

I don't know much about the XXIX, but can vouch for the Reba 29.

The Karate Monkey comes 80mm suspension corrected. Mine has a Reba set at 100mm, and it works excellent. The Reba takes about 20 minutes to adjust travel. (60,80,100mm) Shorter travel means shorter fork length.
