Make sure you hit the Laddies Loppet on the MNSCS circuit. Its worth the drive.

Check the Calendar on http://www.loonstate.org (http://www.loonstate.org/) scroll back through 2007, just about every event in MN, WI, and ND was on there. If you scroll back to 2006 you may find more that happened.

At least it will give you a base line of what to look for in 2008.

We are working to get the MORC events set up and should have them available shortly. I believe we have dates for spring cup, national trails day, and are working to figure out 24 hours of as well as a few other important dates.

Once all these fall into place we can review for the more important events, like ____-fest 2008 (Levis or....) etc.

It isn't something the board would probably pursue, but we would certainly support something along these lines if someone came up with a plan and were willing to execute.

We did an un-official 12 hours of Leb a few years back and it was to date one of the most fun events I've participated in.

So what would it take to do 12 hours of Leb again? Feel free to PM me if need be.

Nice! I'm so happy to hear a few of you are planning on attending! It will be fun. Biking in the black hills rocks! Gives me something to look forward to and distract me from the fact that i'm unable to go to Fruita.

Do you guys know of any other scheduled MTB races for next year? I participated for the first time this year at the Chequamagon Short & Fat in Cable WI and now I can't get enough riding so I want to plan for next year and be able to participate early on.

The last Friday in August ends up on Labor Day weekend this year. We're trying to figure out what to do.

I think that they used to put the race the week before so it should be on the 22 & 23. I have a couple old Afton posters here with those dates on them.

There is a great endurance race series in Wisconsin - www.wemseries.com (http://www.wemseries.com) - and the 2008 schedule is posted.

It also seems to conflict with a few popular regional races.

Gus, did you notice 6/22/2008 Dirt Spanker, MT Du Lac, Duluth,MN is the same weekend as Grandma's Marathon? I wonder if they'll wind up changing that one. Once again they've put 9 of the 10 races on Sunday's. I'm glad I don't run in the sport or expert class. It's still feasible for me to get out of there by noon.

In addition to Bluff Rider's Charge, we also promote 2 other events at Mt. Kato:

Sun, May 4th

Mad Sunday--(formerly Mud Madness), XC races for citizen, sport & expert classes. 2008 will be year 16 for this one! Competitive yet low-pressure early season race.

Saturday, August 2nd

12 Hour Challenge--7th annual, we plan to introduce a team category for 2008. We have 2 different loops that are the exact same distance, so course offers some variety! Great place to recruit team members for Afton 24.

I'll put in my plug for U.P. events-

I've done the Chaindrive and the Copper Harbor races and both of them are an absolute hoot, on some stellar singletrack.

June 14 Keweenaw Chain drive Festival (http://www.chaindrive.org/2007/index.htm), Houghton

My favorite part of the Chain Drive race info sheet - :D

"6. During the race you will encounter a wide variety of terrain and obstacles including but not limited to: sand, rocks, hardpack, fields, large mosquitos, trees, slippery bridges, difficult climbs, fast downhills, angry mother black bears, paparazzi and more. Yes, we know, Cemetery Hill is evil and Maasto is rocky but it’s all part of the experience. Please ride within your ability, have fun and we’ll see you at the finish line!

NO WHINING...this is an Off-Road Mountain Bike Course! We like it that way….."

June 20-22 Superior Bike Fest (http://www.superiorbikefest.com/), Marquette

August? Ore to Shore, Marquette

August 31 (Labor day wknd) Copper Harbor Fat Tire Festival (http://www.keweenawadventure.com/fat_tire.htm)

One more U.P. event that will be going into its 3rd year is the Great Deer Chase (http://www.greatdeerchase.org/). It's in Calumet, about 20 minutes north of Houghton. The singletrack is awesome and composes something like 60% of the race. The 2008 date isn't set in stone yet, but you should probably expect August 16th. It's smaller than the Chain Drive and way smaller than the Ore to Shore, and part of Calumet Heritage Days.
