I should have posted this when I first started building it up a few weeks ago. I still have some final touches I want to do but it is at least ridable now.

Enjoy:

Nice build!

Any reason you didn't go with an SS hub?

Thanks!

I may want to run gears later on and didn't want to buy a new hub. If I just love SS so much I will upgrade to an I9 SS set.

I already know what will happen.......you will fall in love and become:whip: by your SS .

Most likely, I have no problem with that. :D

Another one joins the Cool Kid's Club.

It is the destiny of the Karate Monkey to be ridden as a single speed.

That's a beautiful bike.
Even sexier than the C-string.

Care to elaborate on the "rubber band trick" for adjusting the bb7's? Very clean looking build there.

I don't know about any rubber band trick, but here is
how a Clydesdale has to set up BB7's. BTW I now
have 4 bikes with BB7s (inlcuding a new 29er FSR still in
process).

1) Loosen the 2 bolts that hold the caliper solid in place.

2) Extend the inner (non piston side) brake pad tight to
the rotor.

3) Extend the outer (piston side) brake pad to tight
the rotor.

4) (Very Important to not squeal!) Adjust both pads so that
visually the outer pad is about 1/3 to 1/4 showing
compared to the inner pad.

5) Tighten caliper bolts beyond the silly girly torque spec!
The calipers are GUARENTEED to move at these.

6) Back out the pads until no rubbing while spinning the wheel.
After a ride or two, may need to back out the pads a little more.

I have used that before and the rubber band trick I use is the same one used to center the Juicys. Works about the same as the above method for me, I am just faster with the rubber band trick. :)

Those photos are just as nice as the bike itself.

I am planning on building one over the winter. It's nice to see one built up to help me visualize my goal. Mine will be strictly single-speed. Nice looking ride for sure.

I love the fact the the Km can be build up in millions of ways. I like the black Km, but had to go with orange.

I went with PAUL hubs and tenshioner, a brooks saddle, and thompson stem and seat post.

Oh and a custom made suicide shifter to make it a dingle speed.

Beautiful looking ride... Congrats. You will love the single speed, right now that is all I have, they are the best.
