I got hit by a car while riding my bike in Eagan on Friday night.

I'm not posting this thread to get sympathy. I am posting it because I wanted to include a link to my blog. The purpose of my blog entry was to help raise awareness about bicylists and drivers.

At the bottom of the blog entry you will find a couple links to resouces about road riding and drivers.

Please feel free to forward my post and/or the links at the bottom of the blog entry. I hope that it will help others.

I'm OK - I'm just in a lot of pain. And my spirit is a little broken.

I'm so glad you are okay. Was this Pilot Knob?

And I love you for mentioning HIIT in your blog!

Sorry to hear you got hit. Hope you heal fast. Don't be discouraged, mountain bikers are tough and you're one of the toughest!

Glad to hear you're OK, Janet. Encounters between bikes and cars rarely turn out well for the person on the bike. You probably don't feel real lucky right now. (If you're on Vicodin, you probably don't feel right now.) But at least you're around to talk about it.

There'll be plenty of stupid driver bashing to come, I'm sure, so I'll stick to saying glad you're doing well enough to blog about it.

Get better soon, sweetie!

For the punk that hit you, four words pretty much diagnose him:

1. Attention
2. Deficit
3. Hyperactivity
4. Disorder

You deserve points for getting nailed by a car, suriviving, AND, getting some kick-a$$ painkillers from the E.R.

Bummer to hear that you got hit. I am glad the injuries are not too severe, although pain is the worst part. I wish you the best in getting better soon!

glad to hear you're O.K. I can simpathize with how it feels, I've been hit four times. Some drivers should just be taken off the road

You've also just described about 95% of the people into adventure sports.

Glad to hear you are ok Janet.

another great link to check out is here (http://www.bikeped.org/) I worked as a mechanic in the shop for a couple yrs and the bike ped alliance is a cool thing. I have not been there in a while as I moved way out here to maple grove / dayton but I still talk to some of the folks there and kow that downtown dave has been the shop mngr for a couple yrs now

for those that dont know downtown dave (dave blessing) has been in the metro for a long time, and is an avid cyclist. Great guy to know

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for the well-wishes.

I just got back from the doctor. I have a concussion. Ordered to stay off the bike for at least two weeks, and not to work for a week. This sucks, but at least I am alive and not severly maimed. I am not complaining too much.

I hope that the resources on my blog were helpful. Again, it's http://janetfatkinson.blogspot.com/ entry titled "Bike vs. Car."

Thanks again for thinking of me.

Hope to see you on the trail in two weeks.

I hope I can find a replacement helmet as sexy as the one I was wearing. It was white and pink. Rowr.

Janet- Just so you know, some car insurance companies pay for time missed at work. My mom got hit by a car walking into work and our insurance company went after hers and not only were the medical bills covered, but so were the sick days! Something to check into.

So, does this kid get his license revoked since teens have provisionals? Did he get ticketed by the police?

I don't want to disccus the paticulars.

I've been on the phone with insurance companies and an attorney. I do plan to "lawyer up."

Thanks for your concern and recommendations.

Glad to hear you're ok. If you're seeking any recommendations in the personal injury/litigation arena lemme know...I've somehow employed or sat across from most of the high-test law firms in the TC.
