I thought you did it on purpose to avoid being spammed. Take the @ and replace with "at"

Clever. I'm sure that the programmers who work for spam companies will never figure that one out.

What would you suggest when posting an e-mail address on a message board?

I would make it a lot more convoluted that that.
In general, some of the highest paid programmers are the spammers. They can pretty easily concoct a search filter to detect and reconstruct any of the common ways of hiding an email address. So, if you put personal info out there, there's a good chance they will find it.
In my case, my email address has to sit out there on a couple permanent sites, so we've hunkered down for the barrage of spam. We have a 3-stage anti-spam setup that works reasonably well. But there are still a few that get through.

You're right using a longer permutation is better but "at" has to be better then nothing.

That is why I always use my gmail address for this sort of thing. I won't post up my work email. Gmail does a pretty good job of filtering spam and I don't really care about spam there anyway. I just delete what gets through.
Trying to disguise an email or phone number is pretty useless.
