Today I'm putting the finishing touches on the bike that I'm building for next years Hillside races. I needed an excuse to put together a different bike.

This is an older (2003) Epic frame, with their first attempt at the brain shock. The price was right, so I'm going from a GF Marlin hardtail to the Epic.

This bike is about 2 pounds heavier than my hardtail. That makes the Epic about 8% heavier than the Marlin. I want to keep my weight distribution the same for both bikes, so at 175 pounds (me), I need to gain 14 pounds. It's going to be tough, but with Dairy Queens help, I can do it!

Is anybody else building anything new this off season?

I build about 15-20 lbs to my frame every winter, I manage to take it off in the summer. :)

I hear ya on the adding part. It keeps getting harder and harder to take off that extra weight... I must be getting old (or lazy).

Off season - You guys don't have one?

I'm going to ditch the stumpjumper and build a lighter xc bike. I'm sure it'll be a singlespeed with 29ers. If I have time I'm going to modify my RM Flow with upgrades to suspension and drivetrain.

This would probably fit better under Gear. But since you mentioned this bike was for Hillside races I left it here.

Uhmm.....which means you can only ride this bike at Hillside and nowhere else....:D Yep....MORC forum rules.........which I just made up now....:p

If you are going to get rid of it I may be interested. I have a 2004 and need some parts, if you were going to go that route. Let me know.
