Based on the meeting I had earlier this month, the singletrack trail at Murphy will be open for winter use when it is forecasted to be frozen for extended periods of time.
The trail will be closed during the freeze/thaw cycle and whenever the weather is not consistently below freezing.
The area of land where the singletrack trail is located will be open to off-trail snowshoeing.

very cool!
I need to get some snowshoes. I don't wanna miss all the fun trail-packing at Leb and other places. :)

Looked at trail yesterday and it appears decently packed with foot travel, certainly looks mostly doable with fatbike although the offcamber and steeper inclines might be interesting, otherwise I dunno.

Went snowshoeing at Murphy today. First off, Murphy is an awesome place to snowshoe. Lots of varied terraine, elevation, prairie, swamp, and forest to tramp thru. Lots of great snow right now also.
Looks like the beginner and intermediate loops have seen a lot of snowshoe action. These two trails looked to be in pretty good riding shape. Nice and wide and looked like nice and packed. Probably a great ride for pugsleys and bikes with wider tires. I wouldn't be surprised if it worked for any tires. No studs required right now. Looks like no bikers yet, only snowshoes and hikers. The advanced loop has not seen much traffic except deer.
Anyway, looks like there is 3.3 miles of nicely beaten down winter riding waiting for everyone so get out and enjoy! Remember, Murphy is only open till sunset, so it is most likely only good for weekend riding for most of us.

Definitely if someone rides out there post up - might be fun to drag the pugs down there and check it out!

Can't take much credit for stomping the mtn bike trail. I was actually off trail mostly. I stopped at many spots on the mtn bike trail to post an update.
