For those with even a shred of running tendencies, there is a wickedly fun running race coming up November 17th, aka 'LHF' (Living History Farms Off-Road/Cross-Country Race).

Run on trails, through streams, up muddy hills, over hay bales, costumes,.... this is my favorite race of the year - and I think it could be yours too!

We used to drive, but found it is WAY better to go via coach bus down to the race every year (makes it easy, way more convenient than cars, and then you stay warm!), and we've got spots available for anyone who'd like to join us - you won't regret it!

Check out the info at www.ultimatecarpool.com (http://www.ultimatecarpool.com) (which is my site)...

...and you can find links to the official race site there or just google 'living history farms race'. (the race isn't too long either.... about a 10K, and you don't have to run the whole way so this distance isn't too much for anyone!!!)

C'mon now.... won't you join me for this? Send me a PM.... This is so much fun!!! Spots are filling up fast!

If you're up for a little longer race (25k), The Trail Mix in Hyland Park is coming up. I've never done it, but I'm planning on doing it this year.

Too long for this guy...I don't have the attention span for that!

FYI, let's do the Living History Farms race this year. Nov 22:

It's only $25! This reminds me of the Toughman Race in England (except the IA version isn't nearly as sadistic):

I'll likely be organizing another bus to the race this next year (2008) [we bring a coach bus down = no one has to drive, we all use less gas, it's heated while waiting for the race, and plus it's pretty stinking cool to go to an event like this en mass]. Sorry I haven't updated www.ultimatecarpool.com in a while, I will get pics up shortly. It was the largest running of the race they have ever had - almost 6000 ppl, so they may cap the number next year. It was awesome though, great muddy running!

I'll likely post up more information again this coming September/October, and I'll try and re-visit this thread and PM anyone who has expressed interest. The more the merrier!
