There is about 3 miles of single track just outside of Hibbing located in Maple Hill park. Some friends of mine have spent countless hours developing and maintaining these trails. I've ridden them a few times and they are a lot of fun. Especially for an area lacking in natural hills. The problem is there are developers threatening to wipe out the park which would mean no more trails. I'll paste an email I recieved below. If anyone has any ideas to maybe help stop this lets hear it. Thanks.
Come to the Hibbing City Council meeting October 17, 2007 5:30 [Hibbing City Hall]
The Maple Hill Park Memorandum of Understanding [M.O.U.] is on the HEDA retreat meeting agenda Monday, October 15, 2007. An application to the IRRRB for infrastructure funding for building approximately 150 residential units on Maple Hill Park may be presented at the Hibbing City council meeting October 17, 2007 [5:30].
A copy of this application is attached and it reveals details of the housing plans. Please spread this e-mail and the information contained here-in to as many people as possible and have them spread the information too.
Call our honored Mayor, all the city councilors, and HEDA members to convince them to save this pristine Park.

Luther,
Marlo Gangi (SheBeest) is the head of the mesabi mountain bikers. They are a MORC chapter based out of Grand Rapids. Perhaps they know of the trails and could lend some (somewhat) local help.
here's an e-mail that i sent to everyone that has e-mail.
sitting with kids so i couldn't attend the meeting this evening.
if you guys ever need a hand with the trail at MP, or you ever want to ride just let me know!!!
Peace,
Joe
Shame on you for even considering to ruin Maple Hill!!!!!!!!!
the Maple Hill area is a park, and should be left a park.
there is plenty of mine reclamation land around the hibbing area that a developer could use for new home's.
the people of hibbing (as well as many people from out of town), use this area for mountain biking, geocaching, and general outdoor activities.
don't follow in the footsteps of other communities and ruin a natural beauty that is Maple Hill!!!
thank you for your time!!
Peace,
Joe Sacco

the Friends of Maple Hill have been meeting with the Hibbing park board, and many local people interested in the area, over the past months.
they've been meeting at the hibbing public library.
the next meeting is april 1st at 6 p.m.
they have been gathering ideas from citizens on what they would like maple hill park to become.
one great thing is that as of right now, the singletrack will most likely stay as is!!
if anyone's in the area this riding season come check out what a group of guys has done.
Peace,
Joe

It looks like some new trail is getting built. The trails are pretty amazing and it would be great to keep expanding. Let me know if you want to ride.
