Fall Trailwork Schedule for Murphy-Hanrehan: 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month.

We will meet on Sunday 10/21 at 10am at the main trailhead (where you would park if you were riding the trail). We'll supply the tools... but please wear long pants, good shoes or boots, and bring gloves, bug spray and water. A powerbar or similar snack might be a good idea too.

We will most likely be continuing work on the rock garden at marker 63.

If you are under 18 yrs old, bring a parent or guardian along.

Thanks!!

I hope there's a trail to actually ride, not a river!

I should be there.

I'm pissed, I've only ridden out there once since we last did trail work and I broke my rear hanger not paying attention and hitting a 3 inch rock(not very exciting). I'm still waiting on new hangers to arrive(not many Marin parts around town). At least I'm not missing any riding.

Bump.

It is looking like the trail should be dry enough to do trailwork... as long as it doesn't rain Sunday morning.

Hope to see you there!

I'm in as well.

It's looking good for trailwork. Even if the trail is a little damp, we'll be able to work... we can get to the location we are working on without walking on the trail.

We'll continue working on the marker 63 rock garden.

I'll post here at (or before) 9am Sunday morning if we need to cancel.

Looks like the rain will stay north of us for most of the day... trailwork is on!

We'll probably only work until about 12:30... so people can get in a lap before the rain.

Rode the new stuff at 63 today for the first time. The new little jump is pretty cool but would be nice to get a little speed up first before I hit it. The eazy over the log is awsome and can be jumped if you pick a clean path through the rocks before it. One thing I would really like is to be able to get more speed up before the big rock jump. I went back 3 times to hit it and every time I was left feeling like I needed to somehow get a extra pump of the pedal to launch off it like I wanted... hmm.. The new rock garden is great but goes by fast for how much work it took :) Overall I'm happy with the results so far!

I'd like to know where you guys stuck that big boulder you were trying to move onto the trail around 11:30 AM today?

BTW, this course is absolutely fantastc and provides a much better work out than other suburban off road rides.

Wish I could have been there. Sounds like the new part is going to be fun.

About 30 feet down the trail, next to the big rock jump/drop.

I agree, but I think a lot of that is because it's still fairly new to me.

I'm guessing after riding it a few more times I'll be able to flow through it better. For me, I think it is one of those sections that'll take a little practice to feel 100% on it... everything happens pretty quickly.

Thanks Mike B, Mike P, Cam, Cal, Matt, Gary, and Kris. We had a great crew of 9 people today. A lot of work for just a short section, but the additions to the trail the past couple of work sessions are pretty cool. It was a lot nicer today than two weeks ago in the heat. I hope I can get out before the end of the season and actually ride these additions.

We might be done working on the Marker 63 section for the season.

It's possible we'll spend some time there on November 4th (weather permitting)... otherwise, we'll come back to it next year.

Pete, what other projects are on the list for this season? Also how late in the season will trail work be continuing? Until the freeze/thaw period?

We usually work until the freeze. It's impossible to do most tasks come about late November/early December.

There are plenty of little things (along with finishing the 63 section) that we can work on if the weather stays warm. While there is a possibility we'll build a connector trail in the prairie, we probably won't start any more big projects this year.

We don't work during the freeze/thaw cycle, but once the ground is frozen we have a couple projects to work on... mostly just tree trimming and planning.

Sorry for the delay, but I finally got the photo's uploaded. They can be found in the Murphy (new trail) gallery here:

http://www.morcmtb.org/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=542

Unfortunately the only action photo that turned out was the one of you walking back up the trail.
I can vouch to everyone that you did in fact jump off the rock and cruise through the new section with ease. I was just too slow with the camera to catch it.

I talked to a couple of Bow hunters Sunday that were out scouting deer sign and they said that the trails would be closed for 3 days during a special bow hunt.

It this true and which weekend? next?

The entire park will be closed from November 9th to November 11th for the deer hunt.

It's on the calendar, and a post will go on the forums about a week before warning people about the closing.

Finally got to ride what we worked on the past 2 work sessions and I really liked it! The rock garden needs to be at least twice as long as it currently is! Additions like this are fun to ride!
