I went out to the Stahls Lake trail late last week and it is in great shape. There was a fair amount of leaves on the trail, but as more people ride they are getting worked into the trail tread. Even with the leaves it is very easy to see the trail so getting off the trail should not be a problem.
I will try to get out this week and post up some picutures of the trail.
Besides the group ride, it would be really fun to have a time trial if enough people show up.
The trail consists of a 3.1 mile loop of single track that has some nice short climbs and downhill sections. In general the single track is fairly tight, but opens up in some sections to allow a really nice flow. There are a few log climbs and one rock garden to keep things interesting.
There are also three separate XC ski trails that are really fun for the kids and could be used to set up a longer course for a TT.
We hope many of you can make it to our place after the MNSCS awards party. If not come join us on Sunday.

What are the trails like? Can beginners ride them?

What are the trails like? Can beginners ride them?
Besides the single track loop, there are a couple of beginner ski trails that can be ridden by all but the smallest kids. My 4 year old can handle the ski trails easily and there is a flat section of single track off one of ski trails that is fun as well. That being said, my 6 year old son has ridden the entire loop. He did have to get off a few times to push his bike up some of the short hills (Redline singlespeed). At the end of the lap he was all smiles and really proud that he did it. I have 4 kids that can lead small group rides for kids of all ages (my kids ages are 4, 6, 9 and 10).
I am praying that the weather holds out for the weekend. As it looks right now there is supposed to be a dry window on Saturday, and hopefully that slides into Sunday. Fortunately, the trail holds up fairly well in wet conditions due to some of the trail improvements from last year.
We hope to see you all there!

Get here early to reserve the best camping spots. I recommend the family room in front of the HDTV.
Seriously, we have plenty of room for all to have a warm place to sleep. You are, however, free to camp outside there is plenty of room there as well. We have plenty of wood and can keep the fire going through the night.
We will see you all the MNSCS awards party.

Hey Matt and Andrea,
How is that trail holding up with this endless rain?? It looks like it will be just Ray, myself and Conor. Micole and her Scot will be deer hunting soon and need to go up and check deer stands and sight in their firearms.Oh-yah Ray and I call the living room with the monster TV:zzz: .
Can't wait to hang out with you all. See you on Sat!!

If the rain ever stops I will go out to the trail and check to see what shape it is in. It has been raining on and off for the last week and the trail can only handle soo much moisture. I think the only hope is if it stops raining early tomorrow. It is supposed to be windy which will help dry things out if we get some sun Friday and Saturday.
Even if we don't get to ride, I am looking forward to having as many people show up as possible.

That's awesome!! The more the merrier!!
Well it was dry here a good portion of the day and very windy. If it stays dry tomorrow and the wind keeps up, like they are predicting, we should be good to go as far as riding on Sunday.
I'm so excited that everyone is coming!
We'll see you all tomorrow.

Taylor and I went out this morning and walked the trail and every thing looks good. If it is dry tomorrow things will be great.
I have a soccer game to go to, but I will try to post up some pictures we took when I get back.
We hope to see you all here.
